Objectives

Play the Change 2 is the second edition of a cultural youth exchange project hosted in Catalan Pyrenees. This project aims to join together 37 young actors and drama facilitators from different European schools, academies and youth centers and bring them a space to learn new theatre techniques while devising four theatre pieces about extremism in Europe. These short plays will be performed in front of the local community at the end of the exchange. All partner organisations believe that we need to raise our voice before the raising of far-right parties and ideologies in Europe and the consequences that this might bring. This is the reason why we want to pose this topic amongst young people, to help them reflect about changes that a society based on extremist ideas could be led to regarding freedom of speech, press, symbols, violence, intolerance, education, etc. We divide our objectives between social objectives and artistic objectives: SOCIAL - To fight extremism and populism for a peaceful cohabitation of European cultures. - To foster and protect diversity as a way to improve the social inclusion of minorities and vulnerable communities. - To help in the cultural development of rural areas with new artistic proposals. - To foster conflict resolution methodologies through arts. - To stimulate the knowledge of EU founding values amongst young people. - To empower young people as active citizens. ARTISTIC - To assist young people in the development of their artistic, social and personal knowledge and skills. - To implement new and innovative theatre techniques based on non-formal education methodology. - To promote theatre facilitator's practices and development to increase their employability. - To foster the networking exchange of activities and ideas amongst European theatre schools, academies and youth centers. - To foster creativity amongst young people and improve their mental health, self-esteem and decision-making skills.
