Objectives

"Inclusvie Solidarity" is a 7-day seminar that will take place in Madrid from 4th to 10th of October 2019. The seminar will bring together 27 participants, two of them as facilitators from 11 countries in Europe. The project will focus on giving youth workers, both staff and volunteers from volunteering organisations as well as people working directly with youth with fewer opportunities, the possibility to exchange good practices, skills and knowledge around the European Solidarity Corps (ESC). Our objectives are: • Exchange best practices on using European exchange and volunteering programs in inclusion work with youth • Analyse opportunities and challenges of the ESC programme for inclusion work • Develop ideas on how to reach young people of fewer opportunities and motivate them for participating in ESC projects • Share experiences on the preparation and coordination work with members of diverse groups of fewer opportunities based on migration background/ regional challenges/ gender/ disabilities/ unemployment/ etc. • Understand the changes and challenges that come with the new ESC programme for inclusion work • Develop strategies to overcome these challenges • Promote European values of democracy, participation and inclusion • Create a collection of ideas and strategies as a manual for other youth workers working with or interested in the program of ESC • Host an exchange event with local stakeholders to raise awareness on the opportunities of social inclusion through ESC programmes • Network between organisations and networks • Create common strategies for working together in the future By experiencing non-formal education methods such as drawing challenges, speed dating, brainstorming techniques and informal project visits, the participants will get to know the new program and its changes to its predecessor and they will get to know how to use the program to include youth with fewer opportunities in this European exchange program. The participating organisations are connected to networks such as SCI, Alliance and CCIV. Apart from a public workshop for NGOs in Madrid around the ESC program, a strong outcome will be a collection of guidelines that the seminar participants will create for other youth workers around Europe. The guidelines will give guidance in how to include youth from marginalized groups in activities around the ESC in a creative, respectful and solidarity way. The seminar will lead to more and higher quality European Solidarity Corps projects involving youth with fewer opportunities around Europe and in the long term will empower youth from diverse backgrounds to have intercultural experiences and important learning opportunities.
