The project „Bridgedale Sustainability for Youth Exchanges“ exploits the results of a strategic partnership „Youth-led Societal Innovation for Resilience“ (YlSIR) that mostly young youth workers have been involved in 2015-2016 producing the online course Bridgedale360.org. Bridgedale360 uses an innovative story-telling approach to introduce a holistic concept of sustainability where the four dimensions - ecology, social, economy and worldview - are explored in 16 modules with over 80 activities for individuals or groups to be conducted in an off-line setting. The purpose of Bridgedale360 is to inspire and empower youth to become active citizens for a sustainable future. It is solution-oriented & addresses all 4 dimensions in an interconnected way. It includes elements of mental learning, experiential activities & excercises. Environmental, economical and social crises like climate change, disparity between the North and South in a global economy, injustice, lack of equal opportunities - the issues the young generation is inheriting are many. While governments and institutions like the UN and EU address these issues on the political level, the transition to a low-carbon, resilient, inclusive and fair global society also needs the active engagement of citizens and civil society. Bridgedale360 breaks down such issues into stories and activities that can be undertaken one at a time. The partners perceive a strong interest in many young people towards sustainability issues and would like to be better prepared to meet this demand - youth is the key to a better future. All the partners in this project are becoming involved in youth exchanges under the umbrella of YES to Sustainability, a series of youth exchanges in ecovillages promoting sustainability and active citizenship with young people. In 2016, an international group formed around the idea of creating a series of youth exchanges in ecovillages exploring sustainability issues. They had 3 in 2017, 6 in 2018, and now 13 applications are prepared for 2019. About 250 young people have participated so far. Some of them are so inspired, they want to stay involved, become group leaders and/or organisers. These engaged young people who now become youth workers are the main target group for the training. In a snow ball effect, more organisations became involved, from more and more countries. The website is (https://yestosustainability.wordpress.com/). An ecovillage is an intentional or traditional community that is consciously designed through locally owned, participatory processes to regenerate social and natural environments. The 4 dimensions of sustainability (ecology, economy, the social and the cultural) are integrated into a holistic approach. Ecovillages are models of sustainable settlements that serve as training & learning centres where people learn through non-formal learning activities plus, most importantly, informal learning through the immersion experience of sharing ecovillage life, adding a unique feature. The project picks up the objective of the European Youth Strategy to empower young people to actively participate in society, through equipping youth workers with adequate tools to engage youth in the exploration of sustainability. Bridgedale360 promotes values such as seeing diversity as an asset rather than a problem, solidarity, respect & raises awareness of cultural differences therefore fostering social inclusion. Bridgedale360 encourages youth to become engaged in societal transformation, becoming change agents actively participating in society. Bridgedale360 advocates lifestyle choices promoting health and wellbeing on the physical, emotional and mental level. Raising awareness of the global nature of the above mentioned environmental, social and economic crises is very central in Bridgedale360. It breaks down these global issues into practical solutions influencing every-day lifestyle choices every young person can make to counteract climate change and green our countries. Bridgedale360 supports the development of creativity and innovation in young people through content in the social sustainability module. The main objectives of the project are to - EQUIP YOUTH WORKER WITH ADEQUATE TOOLS to engage youth in exploring ecological, social, economical and cultural sustainability as a means of personal development - IMPROVE QUALITY OF YOUTH WORK in education for sustainable development - RAISE AWARENESS of the EUROPEAN DIMENSION OF YOUTH WORK and the GLOBAL NATURE OF SUSTAINABILITY ISSUES
