Objectives

Stereotypes, although very helpful for articulating our thoughts, are dangerous to take them as a representation of reality. The images we see tell us in a powerful way what is "normal". When we see the same social class, racial group and sexual interactions represented again and again, then the stereotypes about social classes, race and gender are reinforced. For example, stereotypes linked to gender, economic classes and ethnic groups are very present. TV shows, movies, video games and music reproduce them. In stories that are shared in the media, there are more white male heroes than women or minorities. In order to reach a more peaceful and inclusive world, we must begin to realize the stereotypes we have and fight against them, to fight for a more complete and better image of others and ourselves, to accept and not judge our neighbor. The main purpose of the project is to combat the multiple stereotypes that affect us as social beings. The objectives that we intend to achieve with this youth exchange are: -Recognize the use of stereotypes in the media. -Identify stereotyped elements in the language and popular culture as a cultural vehicle. -Know the cultural realities among the partner's countries to recognize diversity in Europe. - To understand that stereotypes are nothing more than simplifications created, many times, from ignorance and carry with them the danger of being the breeding ground for discrimination.
