The object was to strengthen the international competence of the staff and through that strengthen the prerequisites for the internationalization of students and staff. The main objective of the mobilities was to deepen and strengthen the participants foreign language skills, cultural competence and the acquisition of new pedagogical methods. Particular emphasis was placed on co-teaching and team learning which are a requirement in the implementation of the new general upper secondary education law as well as the new curriculum. Other key themes were widening the participants pedagogical perspectives, cross-curricular collaboration, cooperation with higher education and evaluation. Project's activities were planned to support strategic development of upper secondary schools involved in this project. It was found important that individual participants' experiences will benefit the whole community but also the schools' networks. With staff mobility it is also important to support individual enthusiasm and motivation towards work and development.
The ‘From individual experience to community competence’ consortium project was a joint project of two General Upper Secondary Schools of Jyväskylä Educational Consortium Gradia. Both schools have a strong background of international practise and expertise and have been awarded funding for several previous EU projects both under Erasmus as well as its’ predecessor LLP programme.
