All in all, our school had a good range of international activities but we wanted to develop it further and also motivate more/new members of staff to participate. We also felt that it was of utmost importance to have a solid participation from the administrative level (headmasters) and that this project would help us develop further our strenghts as an internationally active school. We also hoped that with this project our staff that will be more competent and committed to participate in our school's international activities that include students.
Alppilan lukio has increased the number of staff and students and our international profile has developed to the point that international activity is part of everyday life in our school and most students and staff participate. At the time of the application we had a study module called Internalisation and cultural studies that consisted of eight multidisciplinary courses that were well linked to the curriculum and there was a strong will to develop that module further. There were a lot of new members of staff who had no international skills. The members of staff who had participated in earlier projects also felt that they needed to refresh their language skills and develop their IT-skill and create new contacts.
