Objectives

For the construction and development of the campus area, the project wanted to find new ideas and pedagogical views on teaching facilities and learning environments from different parts of Europe. The project wanted to strengthen the unity and involvement of teachers and give teachers an opportunity to renew pedagogical methods. Through the project, an effort was made to lighten the joint phase of basic education and upper secondary education and to strengthen the English language path from primary school to upper secondary school. The project also wanted to expand the internationalization and the understanding of multiculturalism in new ways.

Background

The theme of the application was Towards a Common School Campus. The Tiirismaa school (upper school and English-speaking grades 0-9) and the new high school Lahden lukio Gaudia which was created by the merger of Kannas and Tiirismaa high schools will operate in the campus area. The starting point of the campus planning is the flexible multi- and joint use of the facilities and the pedagogy of the future (co-teaching, new learning environments and teaching technology). The learning environment expands beyond the school buildings, utilizing the premises of other operators in the area as well as the surrounding outdoor areas and nature. Joint use of facilities requires good cooperation between different operators. This requires an investment in grouping the teaching staff and creating a common teaching culture.
