Objectives

We wanted to develop our existing multidisciplinary courses and design new ones to attract motivated students to apply to our school, as well as increase our students motivation towards studies. We also wanted to develop co-teaching pedagogies and continuous assessment techniques, strengthen collaboration with international tertiary organisations, and improve the language skills of our teachers so that subject teachers could more easily teach multidisciplinary courses and participate in international projects. We also wanted more international schools to collaborate with on projects and especially during multidisciplinary courses.

Background

Due to our upper secondary school expanding and moving to a different location, we wanted to attract the right kind of motivated students in the future. The faculty and principal agreed that our strength was special, school-specific multidisciplinary courses that focused on active and global citizenship and helped students choose tertiary studies. Our aim was develop these courses based on what we would learn during our mobilities from other European schools and applicable courses. We also wanted to network with other European upper secondary schools so that we could offer student exchanges and virtual international collaboration to our students via these courses. Eventually we would advertise the courses on the school website and other social media to get students to apply to Espoon Yhteislyseo Upper Secondary School.
