We wanted to provide the project participants with the readiness to work in different kinds of work cultures. In addition, we wanted to strengthen students’ multicultural know-how (with regard to both customers and colleagues). In the project we wanted to compare work practices in the various participating countries.
The constant migration between various European countries requires better multicultural know-how. Teachers and students need to have the readiness to move to work in another EU country. In addition, there are more and more foreign employees working in Finland, and the clientele is more and more multicultural. Linguistic and cultural know-how is an important part of any workplace nowadays. The HyvaOlo network wanted to continue its operation by obtaining experiences from more and more multicultural work communities. It is important for students and teachers to observe working procedures in different countries and to justify their own work against this framework. According to the guidelines of Lean thinking, students contemplate efficient and economical working procedures without forgetting the viewpoint of good care.
