Objectives

Health and wellbeing are constantly relevant topics, and we have identified a need to learn more. This project aims at exploring how health and wellbeing can be physical, mental, social, environmental and societal. Non-formal methods can well be used in this type of learning, when a lot of the learning happens through concrete experiences and debriefing. By the HAPPY project we wish to discover the topic of health and wellbeing from many different perspectives through non-formal learning. HAPPY stands for Healthy Active Powerful Project Youth. The objectives of the project are to: - Increase knowledge about different perspectives on health and wellbeing - Gain intercultural skills through non-formal learning methods - Create an art exhibition with a health theme for sharing the outcomes - Learn to better communicate in English - Learn basic project management skills The project has been planned and prepared by the young participants, with support of their youth workers. Therefore all activities are relevant for the participants. By doing this project we first and foremost want to achieve wider skills and knowledge related to health and wellbeing, but also create European networks and work together in English towards a common goal. We want to create a network with reliable partners for future cooperation in the field of European youth work. We want to learn basic project management skills (with the support of our adult leaders) as well as non-formal learning methods. We have selected partners with different backgrounds, so that everybody can benefit from many kinds perspectives. Among the partners there are at least rural youngsters, young people belonging to a linguistic minority and urban youngsters. By implementing this project we will learn about healthy food and cook together, we will also learn more about things that gives or takes energy from us in our everyday lives. We will try out laughter yoga, painting and volunteering, and through that reflect on how not so obvious activities are related to health and wellbeing. We have planned some physical activities every day, like games from different countries, laugther yoga and guided walk on the island of Själö. Through this project we want to learn some basic project management skills, like communicating with partners in English and planning activities together. This will give us bigger networks and friends around Europe. We also want to show our friends and parents that living in remote areas is no obstacle for gaining international experience!
