For the student, international experiences have a wide range of implications, both professional and personally relevant. Equality of opportunity is achieved in the best way when students receive an Erasmus+ grant for the first time in their life the opportunity to travel abroad. Positive effects on personality development include self-confidence, independence, coping with situations, sociability, stress tolerance and the world of values. Studying abroad and learning at work positively affect language skills and motivation to study foreign languages. For an individual student, the exchange period lowers the later threshold to apply to work or study abroad. About half of the students were abroad for the first time in their life. One objective of WinNova is to offer international mobility periods even to those staff members who have no previous experience. Over than half of the staff participants were in the Erasmus+ mobility period for the first time and generally participated in international activities at WinNova. The experience has been positive and perceived as an appreciative gesture on the employer's part. Teachers have experienced an increase in their work motivation and well-being.
Internationality has established itself in WinNova as a natural part of teaching and other activities. When diversity and equality are taken into account in development work and qualifications, a sustainable internationalism is the result. WinNova's strategic objective is to serve the working life of the region by strengthening the internationalism and multiculturalism skills of the students and workers through training. The skills and capacities of the staff are also crucial. Internationality is seen as the general working life skills of the teacher and in expert positions. WinNova offers its students an internationalization path to all degrees and encourages to apply for the International Mobility period. Internationality competence develops along the path of continuous learning: students' competencies develop as part of their studies and staff strengthen their competencies through mobility periods. Opportunities are open to everyone. WinNova collaborates with companies in the working life of exchange students in learning and international visits. It is equally important to strengthen the teaching and guidance skills of teachers who work with foreign-language exchange and immigrant students.
