This project is part of our school project. It is an ambitious project but it is a leading one because it has allowed a great number of students to get an opportunity to go abroad and experiment new cultures and new ways of working and also make comparison .Most of our students would not have the opportunity to do this by themselves. This is a need to be done for the underprivileged students of our rural school. We consider it as a major challenge for the young learners. They will gain autonomy and above all will get a chance in their future career to get a job which will most correspond to their skills. They will also prove their flexibility and professional mobility.
Our school is a small rural vocational school with 250 students. It offers vocational training courses in different fields like the service industry and the industrial area. Our students come mostly from an underprivileged environment thus a European mobility is a great opportunity for them to experiment another culture and open their mind on the international world. A European section was created in 2013 to promote international openness. The students attending the European section are preparing a diploma to work as receptionists and customers’ relations assistants. Once a week they attend a one-hour CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) lesson. They also have one-hour English lesson based on inter-communicative actions and the European culture. After three years, at the end of their training program they take an exam, which gives a diploma mentioning “European section” on it. In this program, the students have the opportunity to take part in the European mobility project. So we decided to integrate the Erasmus+ project. Erasmus+ projects have been running since 2014 and since then we have also enlarged our mobility projects to other students from the production/industrial field (Metalworkers and Electro-technicians). The current project has been restricted to a few students due to the sanitary crisis we are crossing at the moment.
