With this project, l'Aforp wanted to obtain : . Progression of the level of English in general of apprentices and the acquisition of technical vocabulary related to the trade carried out (they are in dificulties and they are not aware of its importance for the future of their professional career) ; . A step towards easier employability thanks to a higher level of English ; . A gain in autonomy (evolving alone in an unknown environment : take transport alone, speak English to meet these daily needs) ; . A social, cultural, historical and economic discovery of a European country ; . A discovery of another aspect of the boilermaker trade (welding and piping activities), a comparison of trades, processes, techniques, tools, professional environment, organization of workshops, equipment used, ways of doing things, safety rules, way of teaching a gesture in two European countries ; . To retain the partners and develop in the future sustainable exchanges and activities of greater scale (exchanges of apprentices for example).
This first experience of mobility is part of a larger project, initiated at the AFORP, under the Eruropean class name. The same group of apprentices had to leave three times, during 24 months, in different english speaking countries, involving three partners. In AFORP, one third of training takes place in English. During the first phase of the project, 12 apprentices left on february 23 for an initially planned period of four weeks. They are accompanied by two trainers in english of AFORP. Apprentices belong to a trade discovery class, in first year of profesional BAC. The host partner is called Twin college (before Alpha college). The project is based on these elements : . A mobility period between february 23 and march 21 of 2020 ; . Apprentices and accompanying trainers are housed in host families ; . Mobility includes two weeks of English courses and cultural visits and two weeks of professional internship at the Dublin University of Technology.
