Objectives

The mobility of young people from overseas has been a political, economic and social issue since the very creation of the status of overseas department. In the French departments of America, the unemployment rate has long flirted with 20% of the working population. International mobility then appears as an opportunity to see and discover other horizons and to re-motivate young people in taking charge of their future. The Erasmus + internship therefore becomes a springboard towards successful professional integration. The objectives were: -to set up internship mobility in European countries for beneficiaries of agricultural training and professional integration -learn how to produce differently by rethinking our production systems, basing them on an optimal use of resources and natural mechanisms -preserve the resources on which our agricultural production is based and on which we depend -to respond to the legitimate demand of society to engage agriculture in new possible growth models. -promote agriculture as a tool for integration and improve the image of agricultural training perceived, locally by young people, as a dead end street.

Background

We wanted to develop the mobility of agricultural establishments in the French West Indies - French Guiana, within the framework of a consortium by integrating 3 associations working in the integration of young people. 7 organizations worked together to apply the national agroecological plan for France, teaching to produce differently, this is the central theme of the Erasmus + Partner Network consortium of vocational training and integration through agroecology: challenge of the Ultramarins of the Caribbean (REEF-Caribbean). The Greater Caribbean, with 80% of the world's endemic species, must develop viable agriculture that respects people and their environment. Faced with this challenge, agricultural education is mobilized to support the transition to new, more sustainable production systems: agroecology. It affects the economic area, environmental performance and the social quality of production systems for farmers as well as for society. It was therefore, through the discovery of other international practices to truly change the perception of agroecology among learners, staff and professionals involved in the training of young people in this context.
