Final report summary

The “Tomorrow is in our hands” project was built in collaboration between the French coordinator and the partnership of Spain, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Turkey. Due to the global Covid-19 health crisis, our project was extended and took place over 28 months. Our objectifs are: - make students individuals who research, question, are curious, think critically, focus on sustainable improvement. We wanted this work to be transversal by adding scientific, geographic, mathematical and technological skills in our approach around biodiversity and the environment; - increase the awareness of students and communities on the safeguard of biodiversity and sustainable use in order to divert ecological wealth into economic terms; - strive to guarantee the needs of future generations, leave them a natural, physical and social environment that is livable, fight against the threats to which biological diversity is exposed; - allow teachers and students to learn about their local biodiversity, get to know it up close; - develop concrete action plans in our schools to safeguard the natural heritage and biodiversity. The target group of the project is made up of pupils aged 9 to 12, whose scientific skills are weak and who have not been able to develop enough attitudes and habits to protect living species. Teachers and the community of each establishment are also targeted by the project. Our various actions have enabled everyone to learn about biodiversity and the ecosystems that surround them, but also about those of partner schools, to develop actions and gestures to preserve ecosystems, to discover different animals, plants, insects on the way. of disappearance or in danger, to write experiences and observations on the environment and biodiversity in blogs or school newspapers, to enrich the twinspace of the project through their actions, to create Nature 'Superheroes comics Biodiversity, organize biodiversity campaigns, participate in the annual photo competition and share best practices with partner schools in our project. Partner schools acted in accordance with a 28-month work and dissemination plan. We succeeded in maintaining the planned actions as well as the mobility. All the partners could not be present because of the pandemic, but we have developed more digital work by setting up virtual mobility and video-conferences when it is useful. Thanks to this project, the pupils were able to acquire a better knowledge of ecosystems and biodiversity. They have developed strategies and actions to preserve it and raise public awareness in this way. This now enables them to make positive choices for a sustainable future. . They know that their little daily actions can help preserve our natural environment. The pupils also acquired a better knowledge of the EU, they learned a lot about the partner countries and they feel close to each other. This project made it possible to develop fraternity between each of the partners. The participating schools have developed practices on the recognition of biodiversity throughout the project. The exchanges of practices between teachers within the framework of the project have also made it possible to make learning on these themes more effective. This has enabled good practices to be put in place to raise awareness of biodiversity and its conservation in the EU. They have thus acquired professional experience at European level and they are enthusiastic about the idea of building new cooperation in the future. This enthusiasm is shared by the local institutions that have been involved in the project. Our establishments will continue to include an ecological and sustainable action plan in their strategic plans. Because the results of the project are positive: the partnership worked well, each partner was able to collaborate and advance the project at its own level and together. The exchanges were rich between the pupils and the teachers. The actions brought about positive behavior changes and ecological lifestyles were developed through activities offered within the framework of the project. These actions are perpetuated within establishments: biodiversity photo competition, coastal cleaning, awareness-raising of the local community, sponsorship of endangered animals, implementation in sorting establishments, gardens, compost, etc. The partners want to renew the experience of an Erasmus + project, just like the pupils, their families and local institutions.
