Each of us is concerned with finding solutions to the social problems that arise from it. It is enough to look at the future in common, in a positive spirit, to see that a successful integration of children into the education system will have a social, democratic and economic relationship that is vital to the benefits of all. We decided to carry out the project '' Kaleidoscope '' so that education is a chance for all the children of the world. The school allows everyone to better understand the world, to know their rights to better enforce them, and to acquire knowledge and know-how. Theoretically, every child must be able to study whatever he or she wishes, depending on how much effort is made. In practice, all children are not quite equal. During our project we would modestly like to fight against this current. It seems that ignorance of oneself and others leads to reactions of fear and rejection. All children must be educated regardless of their social class, culture, religion or social class. The school community expects this project to have a positive impact on the daily working climate in schools. It is for us to make sense of students' disciplinary programs by connecting the production of our products and the realization of activities. The project also aims to engage students in an international dialogue with Francophone correspondents on themes related to tolerance and friendship. This will show how this cultural and linguistic diversity is expressed in music, poetry and sport. The project also aims at the creation of a site, the recording of a CD containing dances and songs of the partners. The educational objectives of the '' Kaleidoscope '' project are aimed at strengthening children's self-esteem, raising awareness of the fight against school violence, autonomy and a positive image of themselves. From an educational point of view, we are convinced that the discovery of the riches of other cultures opens the mind to tolerance and respect for others. Visits and trainings will enable teachers to improve methods, classroom management and their skills. This could help to establish the social and professional relations of teachers. We want to prepare our children to become responsible citizens, capable of contributing to the development of a democratic, pluralistic society open to other cultures. Provide all students with opportunities for social emancipation. We expect from this project a positive action on the daily working climate of the schools involved by giving more meaning to the learning, by linking the production of our products and the realization of project activities to the students' disciplinary programs and creating a a space where our students will have the opportunity to establish positive relationships between peers, allowing them to situate themselves in relation to the adult. Our goal is to give them the space and time to work together to solve problems and carry out projects. We also count on this project to open a new space of dialogue between students, teachers, parents as well as members of the local community who also aim to highlight the cultural heritage of their region and fight any form of violence. The teams of the community in a 2 years work, with requirements of commitment and projection in the duration. The choice of a participatory approach and a concerted organization will in practice enable the concept of European citizenship and the need for each partner to develop more tolerance towards other cultures and other people. The choice of activities was made in relation to the diversity of audiences and class levels integrated into the project. These activities will encourage multidisciplinary teamwork. The teachers will develop their knowledge and understanding of the school systems of the partners. They will exchange practices and build lasting personal connections and imagine future
It has always been clear to us that the world we live in is deeply uneven (it’s important to mention that we hadn’t heard yet about Covid 19 at that time) and it seemed to us that the educational system, and schools most specifically, could be a powerful leverage to reduce these inequalities between learners. That’s why we have decided to work on this project. The main objective was to get the students involved in it and get a better understanding of what it means to be a European citizen and a citizen of the World. We wanted them to get a chance to promote their own culture and learn about different ones, and so to open up to people, to show benevolence and tolerance towards other people. All the delegates communicated in French as we had decided it would be the main language to connect the 5 international cultures between them. It was absolutely decisive in all the actions we carried out. Because of their low social status most of our students don’t have the chance to discover other cultures, other places or other ways of learning. This is what Kaleidoscope aims at doing with them. That’s why the 6 schools that participated in this project mainly come from these social backgrounds The students weren’t from the same age group or didn’t have the same learning levels : the younger ones were from the Niskar Turkish elementary school ( between 6 and 10 years old), the other students were from middle schools from Romania, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, The Azores and Guadeloupe (between 12 and 15 years old). The older ones have shown a great deal of benevolence towards the younger ones they have trained during this experience. It is the first time The General De Gaulle Middle School has been involved in an Erasmus + project as the coordinating school. All the other school teams have been really supportive and active in the project. It has helped us to overcome the Covid crisis in March 2020, during our first year. 6 meetings have been planned : 2 travels to Bulgaria first then to Guadeloupe and 4 virtual meetings with North Macedonia, Turkey, Romania and The Azores. 3 full days of work have been necessary to prepare theses meetings. Each time, the different educational systems have been presented and compared through students team work. That’s why they have been able to communicate more easily and to participate in oral activities or cultural projects. In the end, each meeting has been assessed. In addition, all the partners involved have set up a variety of group work such as the Erasmus’days, the Europen Languages Day, the International Day of Women’s Rights, and also artistic events during the years 2020 and 2021 called « a strange world » , aiming at showing the students how united they were despite the sanitary crisis, and that they could express their feelings about it. Thanks to our project, the students have been able to participate in European actions during 2 years and half ( initially planned on 2 years), they have developped their autonomy and capacity in organization. They have discovered at least 5 different cultures and have benefited from the way students from abroad worked with them. The results are really positive regarding the level of inclusion these students have experienced : some of them have found their place at school. Lots of students have told us how much this project had changed their opinion about school and about students from other countries. This cross-cultural project, this Kaleidoscope, has left a mark in each school , it is a memory but also a powerful project for the future generations to come. The works mentionned are online : on Facebook, Etwinning, other internet websites but also in some local media.
