Health and safety at work: an international issue This two-year project involves two countries: France and Poland. There are two priorities : the support to individuals’ acquisition and development of basic skills and the promotion of a coherent approach of the languages teaching and learning. This project was born when partners felt the need to open up internationally, to valorize their vocational school, to exchange teaching practices, to develop the teaching of the European citizenship and to strengthen the regular practice of a foreign language (English). The partners also notice that one of the most important issue to them health and safety at work is an essential issue which involves many actors, students at first. This project would enable the students to tackle and to realize the issue of this problematic, as well as to improve their language and digital skills. This project would also enable to their experience of mobility and to value it on a resume. The teachers will also take advantage in this project. Apart from the educational exchanges, the team work (intra or transnational) will be strengthened and developed. We’ll have two goals to achieve on both the form and the substance. The formal and informal communication will be facilitated and more spontaneous between the participants. In addition, the students will get familiar with the intended issue and will improve their language and digital skills. These objectives will be achieved by the creation of manual of tips how to behave at work to avoid risky situations (from wich some posters wil be created), short videos and dictionary of logistics and transportation terms. One of short videos will represent the project of the two schools at a contest organized by INRS (National Institute for the prevention of accidents at work and professional diseases). This contest is entitled “Health and Safety at work: from school to workplace, it’s up to you to film”. The project will be also involved during the European Vocational Skills Week. Thanks to all these activities, the participants will be able to work differently mainly by cooperating with students from another country, to stimulate their creativity and to carry out numerous skills especially language and digital skills. The platform eTwinning will be used to perform the activities. The work will be synchronous and asynchronous. We’ ll prepare and organize the future physical mobilities but we’ll mostly work on virtual mobilities. Moreover, all the activities will be recorded on eTwinning so that the project management can be seen by everybody. The participants aged 16 to 19 study LOGISTICS/TRANSPORT. The whole school team will be involved in the project. For the French vocational school, the participants will come from the 1ère BAC PRO LOGISTIQUE/TRANSPORT (24 students). Eight students and three teachers will take part in every physical mobility. For the Polish school, the participants will come from the third year of LOGISTICS (MATURA: similar to BACCALAUREAT). Eight students and three teachers will take part in the physical mobilities. This project is part of the students’ school curriculum. Throughout the two years the project will serve as guidelines for the teachers to mainstream the activities to their teaching. During every physical mobility, the students will attend a training related to safety in warehouses, will do artistic and professional work (pictures, posters, videos), they will visit companies and organizations relevant in safety at work and will study regulations related to safety in companies in the host country. The students will be able to assess themselves regularly in the language and digital fields. Their involvement will be also assessed during the two years thanks to a record with items such as regular attendance, a renewed interest, familiarity with the health and safety at work issue. An exhibition will be organized to show the students’ works with an official opening in each school and will be made available to the school community (on the website of the partner school, on education sites and on eTwinning and on Facebook page) at the end of the project. The participants also will participate to events ERASMUS DAY and the European Vocational SKills Week
Health and Safety at work : An International Issue. This 30-month project brought together two high schools from two countries: The René CASSIN high school in Metz (57) for the France and the Zespol Szkol Transportowo-Komunikacyjnych im high school. Tadeusza Kosciuszki w Lublinie for Poland. Two priorities predominated: supporting individuals in the acquisition and development of basic skills and promoting a coherent approach to language teaching and learning. The main themes addressed by the project, teaching and learning of foreign languages, health and well-being, transport and mobility allowed students to take ownership of issues arising from this issue that concerns all countries and which will necessarily concern these students at one time or another in their professional and/or private life. This project was born from a desire of the partners who feel the need to "open" more to the international in order to enhance their institution, to exchange pedagogical practices, to develop the learning of European citizenship and to reinforce the regular practice of a foreign language (English). Exchanges and the sharing of resources and work make it possible to acquire or enrich practices. Each school has assembled the pedagogical team concerned. From the beginning, the teachers were able to integrate this project and prepared themselves for the activities related to the partnership. Each week, the project was present through the proposed activities; the students had this partnership in mind. Objectives have been achieved. On the substance, the participants exchanged thanks to the etwinning platform but also thanks to the social networks used in a personal capacity. Students subscribed to other students' accounts out of affinity. On the form, linguistic progress is unfortunately not measurable: the pandemic has stopped the dynamics of the project. But the little that we could observe, the efforts were made in order to communicate, especially during physical mobility. The eTwinning platform was used asynchronously. It was not possible to carry out synchronous activities, apart from working meetings. The available material was not suitable at first. The students, aged 16 - 17 years, came from a class (20 students) in the LOGISTICS / TRANSPORT sector. For the Polish school, a class from the logistics - expedition section participated in this action with an equivalent number of students. For physical mobility, eight students and three teachers represented the group hosted by partner. Only C1 mobility has been achieved. During these two years and during the face-to-face meetings, the students received an introduction to training related to warehouse security, visited partner companies of the high school and the INRS (National Institute of Research and Security). The activities planned during this project concerned the study and production of a brochure with photos (of the students) showing good practices. Videos on the principles of prevention were made and one was selected to represent the partnership in a video contest organized by INRS (Health and safety at work: from school to work, it's up to you to film). This video can be seen on DAILYMOTION (recommended by the organizer): https://inrs2022.ondailymotion.com. The announcement of the results is scheduled for May 20, 2022. An English version, for our partner is available from the following link: https://videos.ac-nancy-metz.fr/videos/watch/93e6a641-7e89-4b3f-8e3b-89e3b5135618?autoplay=1 or on the twinspace. The twinspace was the support of our activities where we created pages. In addition to a logo, the students were able to present their work and discuss topics related to the theme. We were able to carry out two self-assessments (those planned in the project: CEFRL, DIGITAL) in September 2019, June 2020 and May 2021. With this crisis, linguistic progress is not very measurable, unlike digital skills, a good part of whose main skills were mastered by a large proportion of students. The results of this project can also be seen on the websites of high schools as well as on the ERAMUS+ result platform. The publicity around the project is relayed by institutional websites and also during events related to international opening (languages week for example) and European events (ERASMUSDAYS for example) This project contributes to a recognition of international openness. Thus the CASSIN high school is now euroscol labeled and now has 3 EURO sections (German, English and Spanish). More and more teachers from the high schools of the two partners are training and developing in their own way the opening to the international.
