The Erasmus + project “Cultural stew: european citizens. 2019-2021” has the goal to create an historical and citizen magazine in a collaborative way about the cultual links between our both regions in partnership / our both partner regions: Corsica in France and Extremadura in Spain. The project will be based on an eTwinning project which will enhance the 2018 eTwinning topic about culutral heritage and the 2019 one about democratic involvement. Our students will work together in european groups according to their skills in both languages, French and Spanish as foreign language and as mother tongue. In each school, two different groups of students from 13 to 15 years old, with an heterogeneous level living in rural areas (maybe sometimes without internet access) will take part in our project, alltogether up to 100 students. In order to achieve the eTwinning -Erasmus + project, a procedure will be followed and a provisional schedule will be prepared throughout the three school year terms with a variety of activities like first contact tasks, competitions and interactive games. Thaks to the collaborative activities through the digital skill work and the learning, teaching and training activities during the journeys, the students will carry out a digital historical and citizen magazine at the same time as they learn about the richness and skills of each other. There will be two editions of the magazine, an edition for every year of the project. The objectives of the project are numerous. Actually, the eTwinning -Erasmus + project will let students develop linguistic writing and speaking skills in French and Spanish, as well as learning about european culture and exchanging nterculutral aspectcs, developing digital competence and promoting the learners autonomy as project authors. In addition, the constitution of their european citizenship, key component of our project, settles perfectly in 2018 eTwinning topic about cultural heritage and the 2019 one about democratic involvement. Within this project, students will have a good example of interdisciplinary learning through linguistic, intercultural , social and digital competences. They have also a very important cross-curricular learning component due to the european dimension and the collaborative work, which are key elements of their future. The project will raise personal motivation in our students , even those who have clear school and conentration difficulties owning to handicap and it will let them learn how to gain self-confidence. It is important to note that the national priority with which our project is linked hghlights interdisciplinary competences and key competences. Foreign language and mother tongue communication takes part in the acquisition of key competences. Native speaker students will have to show the master knowledge of their mother tongue in order to help their partners efficiently. They will be guides and budding teachers at the same time. The project will enable us to develop innovative and creative pedagogical methods which stimulates the exchange of different ideas and experiences among the parnert teachers. In addition, thanks to this project throughout two years time, students will create a final international collaborative product within teams about Extremadura as a cultural bridge towards Europe, where students will become aware of the cultural link between our countries and regions in the way that , apart from their national citizenship, there is an european citizenship based on common cultural heritage, such as the link regarding spanish conquistadors, coming from Extremadura and Corsica. During the journeys in the respective countries, students will enrich their magazine with activities made on the spot: videos, photo reportage, treasure hunt with an itinerary program of geolocalisation. The collaborative historical and citizen magazine will have a paper and a digital version. It will be published, circulated and it will be useful as pedagogical resource in each school library. Besides, students will be responsible for this dissemination through the creation of a blog linked to both schools websites and social media. This interdisciplinary project carried out by foreign language , native mother tongue, Literature and Mathematics teachers will encourage our students to become responsible european citizens. This fact emphasises the knowledge of other people culture and the cultural links in order to know their history. Indeed, conflicts arise from the ignorance of the others. Finally, the diffusion of the project will be ensured thanks to local press, television (local channel Telepaese in Corsica), the presentation of the project during th European day of languages or teacher training courses. Both schools have got the eTwinning School label, the project “Cultural Stew: european citizens. 2019-2021” will be noticeable at local, regional and educational level.
The Erasmus+ project “Bouillon de culture, citoyens européens 2019-2021” is a KA229 school exchange project between two schools: the Collège Jean-Félix Orabona in Calvi, Corsica, France and the Instituto de Enseñanza Secundaria Luis Chamizo in Don Benito, Estrémadure, Spain. More than a hundred Spanish and Corsican students, including the “Global Defense and Security Class” from Calvi, participated in this bilingual (French-Spanish) project which lasted 28 months and had 2 mobilities, one in each country, planned. Because of the global pandemic due to Covid19 and despite the 6-months prolongation of the project, the mobilities abroad had to be canceled and were replaced by two weeks of virtual mobilities at the end of the project, relying on synchronous, cultural, citizenship activities and videoconferences. The project involved three eTwinning projects, corresponding to the three school years, and allowed the collaborative creation of three digital magazines on the cultural links between Corsica, Extremadura and Europe. Each year enhanced progress and consolidated the participants' knowledge. These projects have obtained the national and European eTwinning quality labels. Thus, the partners have worked closely together on the historical and cultural heritage of the two regions as well as on European citizenship, developing their social and civic skills through active citizenship activities. The recognition of the cultural links existing between our regions and Europe allowed the students to be aware of the existence of a common cultural heritage and a European citizenship. Indeed, becoming a European citizen requires knowledge of other people’s culture in order to understand one’s own history, as conflicts are often born out of ignorance of the other. “Bouillon de culture, citoyens européens” has achieved many goals. On the one hand, the partners gave a good example of interdisciplinary learning in language, intercultural, social, digital, scientific and physical education. On the other hand, the project has highlighted very important transversal learning in regard to the European dimension and collaborative work, which are key elements of the student’s future. Thanks to the implementation of innovative and creative pedagogical methods, encouraging the exchange of experiences and ideas between the partner teachers and the learners, the latter showed an increase in motivation for the courses investing in the project and beyond. It is worth noting that some of the students were willing to use their cross-curricular skills to help their peers and teachers in the administration of the Twinspaces created for the projects and the creation of the digital magazines. The collaboration between students also became a collaboration between teachers and students. The Erasmus+ project allowed the organization of many activities between the partners, weekly activities that were integrated into their school schedule. The pupils were the actors of their learning. They developed the Learning to Learn skill by making decisions. Students were administrators of the Twinspace and digital magazines. The dissemination of the whole project was ensured thanks to numerous partner networks of the schools. In conclusion, the two schools collaborated closely which allowed them to exchange virtually, within the given circumstances. The qualitative evaluations carried out with the learners and teachers showed a 100% satisfaction rate of all the activities involving greater autonomy and strong student motivation for the project activities. In addition, the teaching team took real advantage of the dynamic given to the lessons and was extremely satisfied with the progress of the students. The Collège Jean-Félix Orabona in Calvi and the IES Luis Chamizo in Don Benito wish to perpetuate this European experience in order to be able to carry out the school exchange as soon as the health conditions will allow it.
