The Eurobot project is a continuation of an eTwinning partnership conducted in 2018 within an Interdisciplinary Practical Teaching combining Spanish and technology. The aim is to build a fire brigade robot remotely controlled and programmed to extinguish flames on a given course. Within the framework of this EPI, we have engaged the eTwinning partnership, named Eurobots 3.0, between the Gaston Jollet College and the Spanish School of Spain, the Instituto de Educación Secundaria (IES) Banús, Cerdanyola del Vallès (Catalonia). The students, from age 14 to age 16, from both institutions will be mixed and will form international teams, each of them will develop their own firefighting robot. The challenge of this project is to show students that the skills acquired are not local, but well anchored in a European and digital context that legitimize the learning of modern languages and digital tools to exchange, communicate, create and produce. Indeed, in a globalization context, this project, which will allow students to participate in an international team to develop a robot (editing, programming, modeling and manufacturing of parts to customize it), appears as an excellent opportunity to acquire useful and sought-after skills (individual path of information, orientation and discovery of the economic and professional world). Students will discover, during the work in international teams, the interest and importance of mastering a foreign language to communicate with teammates. Our ambition is for our students to master "generic" digital tools, such as creating slideshows or videos, using videoconferencing or the exchange platform (twinspace) as well as the use of digital design and production tools such as digital modeling, 3D printing, digital control production, Android application creation and robot programming. This digital component is complemented by media and Internet education so that they can use digital tools in a reasoned, secure and convenient way. The desired result is to allow all students to enter into written and / or oral communication in a foreign language, including with foreign partners. The project will require upgrading of Spanish language skills and adaptability to the speakers. This project combining work in international teams in Spanish and robotics activities corresponds to innovating practices anchored in the digital age and favoring a coherent approach of teaching and learning Spanish language. In addition to the two main objectives stated, the project is also part of the future and citizen paths. We think that it is important to give meaning to school learning by matching the skills developed and trades using them. This opening towards the world of the company must help the pupils to build their orientation course but also to show them that the skills developed are used in different countries. This is why it is envisaged during the mobilities to make visits of companies but also places of training. In addition to media education and the reasoned use of digital tools, the organization of project work in international teams contributes to the training of the citizen and will be an opportunity for students to cooperate, to exchange their point of view and argue.
The ERASMUS+ Eurobot 3.0 project, carried out with teachers and students for 3 years by 3 different cohorts from the Instituto de Educación Secundaria (IES) Banús de Cerdanyola del Vallès (Catalonia) and the Gaston Jollet college, is part of the continuity of an eTwinning partnership called Eurobots 3.0 carried out, since 2018, within the framework of Interdisciplinary Practical Teaching combining Spanish and technology. The objective for each cohort that participated was to collaborate with their partners, within the framework of a project-based educational approach built around a realistic scenario intended to introduce students to the various professions related to robotics and communication, in order to develop robots. The challenge of this project was indeed to show students that the skills acquired are not local, but well anchored in a European and digital context which legitimizes the learning of modern languages and digital tools for exchanging, communicating, creating and produce. Indeed, at a time of globalization, this project which allowed students to participate within an international team in the development of 2 robots (assembly, programming, modeling and manufacture of parts to customize them), one autonomous and the other controlled remotely by bluetooth by Android touch pad, was an excellent opportunity for them to acquire useful and sought-after skills and the opportunity for them to work on their Future Course (individual course of information, orientation and discovery of the economic and professional world). The students also discovered, when working in international teams, the interest of mastering a foreign language in order to be able to communicate with their teammates, despite the language barrier. The Spanish target language thus became a concrete necessity and was used for a specific purpose, while training them in the use of new technologies to exchange with them remotely thanks to digital tools and through the eTwinning platform. Our ambition was for our students to master "generic" digital tools such as the creation of slideshows or videos, the use of videoconferencing or remote exchange platforms (twinspace) as well as the use of digital design tools. and production such as digital modeling, 3D printing, CNC production, Android application creation and robot programming. This digital component was supplemented by media and Internet education so that they can use digital tools in a reasoned, secure and benevolent manner, and attested by the PIX certification obtained by the students. The use of innovative practices rooted in the digital age has promoted a coherent approach to teaching and learning the Spanish language on this project has allowed an increase in the achievements of the students' Spanish language skills and adaptability to the interlocutors by improving their ability to enter into written and/or oral communication in a foreign language, because the work in international teams had Spanish as the language of communication but also robotics and the creation of "Android" applications as support objects. The project is also part of the future and citizen courses. We thought it was important to give meaning to school learning by matching the skills developed with the professions using them. This openness to the business world helped the students to build their career path but also showed them that the skills developed are used in different countries. This is why, during the mobility carried out, we have chosen to take the students to visit places of higher education such as the Lycée A. Thierry in Blois, Polytechnique Orléans, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. We also wanted them to visit companies related to the various professions linked to the project (Caillau, Parc Eurecat de Cerdanyola del Vallès, Kukka Catalonia). In addition to media education and the reasoned use of digital tools, the methods of organizing project work in international teams contributed to the training of citizens and was an opportunity for students to cooperate, exchange their points of view and argue. The results of the project are visible on the etwinning platform and can be consulted on the different twinspaces. The project obtained the etwinning quality label in 2019-2020 and in 2021-2022. 2019-2020: https://twinspace.etwinning.net/92654/home 2020-2021: https://twinspace.etwinning.net/122815/home 2021-2022: https://twinspace.etwinning.net/189703/home
