Project summary

During a mobility program for teachers (Erasmus KA1) to develop the skills in CLIL (Content Integrated Language Learning or CLIL for Content and Language Integrated Learning) in June 2017, two teachers from Hustopece High School in Czech Republic and a teacher from Le Mans agricultural High school in France met. Many common points emerged: our schools are of a comparable size, have a youth audience from rural areas, begin to develop CLIL learning among a public of young scientists to convince ... and have a culture common sharing, opening on the outside. From this training came the idea of exchanging ideas about our emerging CLIL teaching practices. From then on, the exchanges began gradually via e-mails to fix our respective expectations. Very quickly, the need to meet with our classes was confirmed: a first KA2 Erasmus file was filed, unsuccessful last year and prevented the completion of this exchange project, lack of resources. Nevertheless, the desire to exchange continued and manifested itself by the creation of a common space on etwinning, thus allowing various exchanges: mutual presentations via videos or other documents. In order to go further, it is now necessary to organize reciprocal meetings at the earliest (as early as October 2019) to facilitate exchanges between teachers and students. These first meetings will make it possible to really discover, to discover the territory of each one and to continue more easily the first exchanges with distances. Thus, the preparation is in progress: young people prepare the supports of certain visits that they transmit via etwinning. It's a great way to motivate them to develop their language skills and reinforce their desire for mobility. It also energizes the educational teams around this project, with the caveat of the uncertainty of the realization of the journey which is the main purpose.

Final report summary

During a mobility program for teachers (Erasmus KA1) to develop skills in CLIL (Teaching of a Subject Integrated into a Foreign Language) or CLIL (for Content and language Integrated learning) in June 2017, two teachers from the High school of Hustopece in the Czech Republic and a teacher from the Le Mans agricultural school in France met. Many common points emerged : our establishments are of a comparable size, have an audience of young people from rural areas, are beginning to develop CLIL teaching with an audience of young scientists to be convinced...and have a culture shared community, open to the outside. This training therefore gave rise to the idea of discussing our emerging CLIL teaching practices. When the Erasmus file was validated in the summer of 2019, the establishments felt ready to organize it from October. The first exchange took place during two intensive weeks: a week in Hustopece in the Czech Republic followed by a week in Rouillon in France. This exchange turned out to be a success which reinforced our hopes and created a dynamic that the COVID crisis did not extinguish: it just postponed it to October 2021 with a reinforced desire. Meeting the other is the best motivation for teaching the practice of languages, here the English language, while learning about the other: his territory and his way of learning in a high school.
