Starting from the observation that the migratory flows experienced by European countries today lead certain individuals, groups and political representatives to react by withdrawing into identity, to designate those fleeing war, hunger, political or religious persecution as unbearable burdens, the only causes of the economic crises with which these countries are confronted. Youth is not spared by these trends. Knowledge of European history and analysis of the conflicts of the 20th century provide keys to understanding the mechanisms of ostracisation suffered by certain human groups and shed new light on the difficulties faced by our contemporary societies. 2019 is the year of commemoration of the Republican exile in 1939, when nearly 500,000 Spaniards crossed the border to flee the Francoies armies and seek refuge in France. Authorized to cross the border as refugees, they were interned in camps and considered undesirable. This historical situation seems to us to be particularly conducive to analysing and putting into perspective the situation facing different European countries in the face of contemporary migration flows. With the desire to enable young people to appropriate the positive values of humanism, tolerance and peace that underpin the principles of European integration, the Memorial of the Rivesaltes camp, whose mission is to report on history in order to better understand it and live together in the present, invites three partners (Museu Memorial de l'Exili/Espagne, Fondazion Fossoli/Italy and Territoires de la Mémoire-Cité Miroir/Belgique) to co-organise these meetings of young Europeans 2019 (EJR 2019). We would like to organize the 2019 EJNs to: - Enable young people to take greater ownership of history and to be active in building their personal commitment, - To give meaning and strength to the common history of these young people at European level by working on the construction of individual and collective memories and supporting them in their commitment process, - Develop among young people from other cultures to form a network of young "ambassadors of European memory", - develop language skills. We will address the following questions: - What situations and difficulties are faced by those who are forced to flee their country for economic, climatic, political or religious reasons? - How to integrate in a host country? - How can we not give up our culture of origin? To do this, we will approach: - The rights and duties of the European citizen, migrant, asylum seeker - Institutional and associative networks in charge of welcoming migrants
