Objectives

This European youth exchange contribute to make the site of Le Faï a place "extra", where young people and adults, people from all countries and cultures, employees, volunteers, artists or tourists work and live together, for a few days or months ... The proposed youth exchange is based on the development of the territory's natural resources. For 3 weeks we will learn transformation techniques: we will harvest, transform, cook, make lavender essential oil, visit processing workshops, discover know-how from professionals. We will be able to acquire new skills, introduce ourselves to new professions and discover a different way of working in relation to the natural and human environment. Together, we will cover various topics such as seasonality, self-production issues and short circuits, exchanges and links that we can put into place to integrate properly in the territory. This initiative represents the opportunity to invest locally in a process of pooling traditional knowledge, to bring an international dimension, to disseminate the values of popular education and to arouse the curiosity and wonder of visitors. Intercultural encounters encourage European mobility and allow different approaches to be brought into play which give rise to new initiatives. From the point of view of the territory and the local population, Mountain Wonders III intends to contribute to the opening up and cultural opening of a very rural area. Thus we will be able to position ourselves as actors of the contemporary social transformations through the ecological and economic transition, one of the important stakes of the revitalization of the rural areas. The workshops, the debates, the exchange of knowledge and practices, the visits and the interventions that we will organize are the occasion to question us on the local consumption, to find new sources of inspirations and to introduce us to the project management. At the end of the Youth Exchange, we will organize a "Wonderland Market" to present our productions and interact with visitors on the links between resource transformation, social transformation and "doing together." The workshops will be led by the Fai permanent team, the "leaders" of groups, volunteers and local producers. The animation methods used are those inspired by our experiences in the field of international projects: working together, WITH participants, soliciting the talents and skills of each person. To discover, through the concrete and collective realization of a common goal, strength and diversity. A life-size experience with values of solidarity, intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding. Through this collective experience, we hope to promote the creativity of young people, encourage "home-made" production and the willingness to exchange locally to support the local economy. To sum up, through this project, we aim at enabling young people of different countries to go through a collective adventure and to take part in the valorisation of our domain's ressources, and at allowing young people to discover various ways of livening up a rural territory, giving them tools to be able to take their own initiatives at a local, national and european scale, thanks to the meeting of the network of local farmers. Through these discoveries, we hope to reinforce the spirit of initiative among the participants in order to reinvest their new knowledges in the local economy of their country. We wish to raise the group's environmental consciousness by developing a « familiarity » with our surrounding natural ressources and to contribute to the cultural opening up of a rural territory, by creating a meeting between the inhabitants and young people gathered by ecological practices. Thanks to the diversity of the people taking part in the project, we want to work for the inclusion of people encountering social or professionnal difficulties. Eventually, throughout our project partnership, we wish to help our european partners to participate, with the young people they follow, to a plurinational exchange ; and to promote european mobility.
