Objectives

The mobility of the project took place on the island of Guadeloupe, between 19 and 29 of April 2021. Within the project, we integrated directly only a limited number of young people (40 young participants), but the multiplication effect exerted on other young people in the communities of the partners we consider to be quite important. Our goal was to promote sporting activities as a healthy and beneficial practice, both among young participants (directly) and then as a multiplication effect among the communities they are part of (indirectly). To achieve our goal, we had the following specific objectives proposed: -Facilitating the exchange of experiences, ideas and information among 40 young participants in the project, under the guidance of 4 group leaders, relevant to the main theme of the project (practicing sporting activities as a healthy way of life) during the activities days. -Including 40 participants in concrete sports activities from which to discover their benefits (both individual and team sports), during activities. -Presenting relevant information and project results in communities involved through concrete measures: 5 motivational videos, an electronic brochure, a dedicated facebook page, a dedicated youtube channel, a photo / blog gallery. -Creating an online communications platform in the form of a dedicated blog, to add existing digital tools (facebook, youtube) to facilitate communication and network development among the 40 participants and partners involved, with young people from different communities. Together with our partners, we wanted to help young people in our communities to realize that practicing outdoor sports or recreational activities (running, adventure sports, mountain rides) is beneficial to their physical and mental health. We aimed to raise awareness of the important inclusion of sport and recreational outdoor activities in the lives of young people in our communities, while emphasizing the positive impact they have on a healthy lifestyle. In this regard, we have used a wide range of non-formal activities and practical activities to help young people learn more easily in a multicultural context. While doing so, participants also discovered some of the European values such as tolerance, diversity and equality. Together with our international partners, we have agreed that an increasingly important issue for young people is the need for sport and sport activities. With the entry into the digital age, and with ease of access to information and technology, young people tend to become increasingly negligent in terms of personal health and healthy activities, mainly about the sport. More and more studies show that the concern of young people for sports is becoming less and the concern for unhealthy activities (just remembering the excessive use of digital devices) is increasing. Statistics show that at European level, 38% of those aged 15-24 and 55% of those aged 25-39 are rarely or not involved in sports activities (source: World Health Organization). Values are much higher in rural areas or in small communities, such as those were we held the project activities. Starting from these facts, and considering that in the small communities young people are less concerned about sports activities (mostly because there are limited possibilities) we came up with the idea of this project. The partners we had in this project were facing the same problems in their communities, so the involvement of all promoters in the project was high. From a participant perspective, to combat sedentarism, which is a major problem among young people, such a project provided them with the opportunity to discover new, attractive ways to pay more attention to important aspects such as sports activities. The lack of sports activities is one of the main causes of obesity, cardiovascular accidents, depression and other physical and mental disorders. We have reached our objectives through the activities which we implemented during the mobility, which took place in the French oversea territory of Guadeloupe Island, and in which 40 young participants took part. Our project was in accordance with Erasmus+ objectives and with European values, since it promoted the practice of a healthy way of life through different activities, mainly sport activities, and also supported diversity, equality and a sense of tolerance.
