Objectives

The organization Le Creneau aims mainly to promote exchange between people that grew up in different cultures, countries and sociocultural patterns. Situated at the Castle of Prureaux, transformed into an international reception centre, Le Creneau organizes socio-educational and cultural projects, in order to allow each person to build themselves while participating in social, environmental and cultural development at a local scale. Since 1993, the organization has been working hard to maintain and enhance the historical buildings of the site for its projects. Since a few years, an environmental aspect has been developing (pedagogical farm, permaculture garden, waste water treatment by phytopurification system, dry toilets, composting, bee-keeping..). Integrated within collective and daily activities, this place, in addition to offering local and healthy food for the participants, is inscribed in an active pedagogical approach where apprenticeship can be acquired through action and concrete implication of the public welcomed. Sharing a common observation crystallized by the growing influence of populist speeches concerning environment with a not well educated population, culpability and inaction that it entails for a lot of citizens, media education appears to be a priority, notably regarding the digital native nature of participants. In face of the abyss that the omnipresent information and the lack of references to analyse its sources can represent for youth, this project stands out as an essential facilitation tool to acquire the needed analytical mind to form an objective and unbiased opinion. By using tools and principles of non-formal education, the organization wishes to propose a new approach to rethink environmental preservation, deconstruct “restrictive ecology” speeches relayed by media, and promote concrete and directly applicable citizen's initiatives in order to break up with individual culpability. The final result of the exchange composed by sound documentaries and short films will be facilitated and enriched by the encounter with a lot of partner-organizations, in terms of both content and technical form. Creative activities (writing workshops, plastic arts, video making...) and think tanks complete the discussion and exchanges that will come up during the project. This project aims also : 1/ To reflect, apprehend and debate collectively about environmental problems and solutions that may be carried regarding positive and citizenship ecology. 2/ To raise awareness among the participants about issues linked to environment preservation and respect at a local, European and international level, by inter-cultural encounter. 3/ To actively include young people into a creative and learning process by using popular education tools. 4/ To offer a place for exchanges, freedom, and encounters for a multicultural and socioculturally different public. 5/ To raise awareness among local actors (inhabitants, policy-makers, institutional partners) about environmental protection and use of sustainable, concrete and local ecological alternatives. 6/ To educate young people to the use of media outlets and journalism work. 7/ To spread the exchange results and to highlight the actions of Erasmus+ program.
