Objectives

The project "Kalavan, the place to show" is a youth exchange that will take place in Armenia, in Kalavan, a small village in the east. It will host french, latvian and armenian youngsters aged from 15 to 18 years old. The objective of this exchange is to change vue about foreigners by meeting them. The tool that will be used to reach this objective is theatre, which is the best way to learn to know ourself and be confident with others. The association that organizes the European exchange is ABCD Armenia, which is particularly attached to the place where the exchange will take place because it is a village committed to its revitalization, with strong rural dynamics. The exchange of young people, through the meeting of different actors of this dynamic, will also be turned towards rurality and its challenges. The FOL36 carries this exchange which follows a youth exchange that was set up last year on the theme of circus in France with the Armenian partner. The young people who participated in this exchange wanted to engage themselves to go to Armenia. It is therefore at the initiative of young people that this project was launched, they have also contributed a bit to this application. Indre is a very rural department where young people have not many opportunity to meet young Europeans. We go to the classrooms with students all along the year in secondary schools and high schools on the theme of Europe and borders, it's the way to figure out that young people have the vision of an Europe away from their daily concerns, and that they lack of informations about Europe. Being european is evident for them and they don't feel concerned by its future. During 10 days from 21 to 31 July 2019, young people will live in a place where rural inhabitants are engaged to revitalize their village. They will take part in theatre workshops by professionals and share good time together and visit Armenia. During the exchange, the youngsters will prepare a restitution which will be open to the public the last evening. Registering the project on the territory with the organization of an event at the end of the exchange is one of the challenges of this project, in addition to its overall organization.
