Objectives

Initially, this project was designed to strengthen the Euro-Mediterranean dialogue between young people from both sides of the Mediterranean. Too often, preconceived ideas based on prejudice and stereotypes have plagued political and societal discourse. This international and regional climate pushed us to propose youth exchanges on current issues that can echo this current events and have a real impact on local social development through dissemination activities. Our objectives were therefore : - To fight prejudices and stereotypes through intercultural dialogue, - To create and inspire professional vocations among the young participants, - To allow young people with fewer opportunities a mobility within Europe and the Maghreb, - Support the creativity of young people through thematic workshops and artistic productions at the local level, - To make known the tangible and intangible heritage through the themes and the visits during the exchanges in the respective countries, - Disseminate and promote the results of these exchanges at the local, regional and even international level. This action carried by Une Terre Culturelle and its Maghrebian, German and local partners was articulated around 3 youth exchange activities that were initially planned in Marseille with Algerian, German, Tunisian and Moroccan groups that constituted the non-formal education project 'Mediterranean: History, Screen and Laughter'. Only the activity 'From the screen to reality' could take place as planned in July 2019 in Marseille. This Franco-German-Tunisian youth exchange aimed to create a dialogue around this theme that has become essential and necessary between peoples to raise awareness of different readings of information. This exchange was articulated around animations of workshops, group dynamics and linguistic animations on media and workshops on the treatment of the current events and the fakes news, and thematic visits. The other two activities planned for April 2020 have undergone several adjustments and postponements due to the health crisis. With the coronavirus crisis and the limitation of travel, our intercultural youth exchange projects had to be suspended. Nevertheless, we did not want to completely abandon our youth audiences and wanted to offer them a new exchange format: mixed intercultural youth encounters. Over the past two years, we have learned to work at a distance, to develop new digital tools, and to meet the challenges of this particular format. We have therefore adapted our youth meetings to the digital and mixed format. Through these mixed activities, we wanted to keep in touch with young people, to strengthen the contact between young people at the Euro-Mediterranean level. Moreover, the creation and adaptation of methods for a digital format allowed us to make communication and exchange between the project groups more accessible. We wanted to democratize the digital methods and activities so that the groups of the same exchange could communicate between the different phases. Thanks to the digital format and the setting up of mixed meetings, we were able to reinforce the effects of the intercultural projects on the young people as well as the Franco-German dialogue despite the crisis. The project 'Au carrefour des Histoires' had two mixed phases from 16 to 18 July 2020 and from 26 to 30 July 2021. During these activities, the French, Algerian and German groups were accommodated in common lodgings in their own cities with a synchronized program, mixing international digital activities and creative workshop times to work on local exchange themes. The difficulties of organization, obtaining visas for Algerians and exorbitant ticket prices did not allow for a face-to-face youth exchange. The project 'Make me laugh with your words', a Franco-German-Moroccan youth exchange was realized in a hybrid form. Digital meetings took place in 2020 between the groups in France, Germany and Morocco. In 2021, when the youth exchange resumed in July, the French and German youth met in Marseille, while the Moroccan youth met in a common accommodation near Tangier. The groups shared the same program for one week from July 24 to 31, 2021.
