Objectives

Youth exchanges can change the lives of participants. They can significantly change the behaviour of all those involved. Youth exchanges can improve relations between societies of former enemies of war and help to dismantle mutual stereotypes and clichés. Through a sensitive interaction with history, one can work constructively with others on somewhat antagonistic or conflicting interpretations of the history and cultures of memory. It is in this spirit that we are organizing a Franco-German-Russian project for young people on the theme of peace. We start with an approach that ranges from the individual to the global. A major threat to peace is often a misunderstanding in perception, both in daily interaction and social debates and in international politics and its multimedia marketing. At a time when information flows are becoming increasingly digital, it is important to us to be aware of how to treat and shape them in a sovereign way. Our project is therefore structured around three axes: In Phase 1, which will take place in Marseille, we will work on the perception of oneself and others by using tools and media elements such as images and recordings (radio, soundtrack). We will of course initiate the different approaches and definitions of the concept of peace. Participants will also learn to develop and discuss an opinion, express constructive criticism and resolve conflicts in a spirit of compromise. These skills will help them in their future personal and professional commitments. In a second phase, the emphasis will be on history and memory. Participants in St. Petersburg will discuss their family history and its relationship to the national history of the three countries. They will not stop at the past, but will focus on the future coexistence of cultures and nations too. Phase 3, even if it is not part of this request, deserves to be mentioned because it will aim to reflect on the establishment of lasting peace. Theatre will serve as a field of experimentation and tool of expression. In this respect, Phase 3 will take place in Hamburg. Hamburg is a twin city of both Marseille and St Petersburg and, in addition to its function as a "gateway to the world", it is therefore symbolic of the link between cultures and nations. In particular, the pedagogical aspect of the media in the service of common peace will be further developed. Participants and supervisors will be accommodated at the Lycée Lacordaire located in the 13th arrondissement of Marseille. This is a high school classified as ERP (Etablissement Recevant du Public) located at 9 minutes walk from the St Just metro station, 5 minutes from the nearest bus station and covering both the city centre and the periphery, which will allow our young people to take full advantage of local realities for the rally, thematic outings, free areas, beach/swimming pool outings and hikes in the various natural parks around the city of Marseille. Participants will share rooms with two or four people that have and shared bathrooms. The boarding schools also have common areas with WIFI access. The school has classrooms equipped with furniture, large areas and sports grounds for outdoor and varied sports activities. This qualifies the school as an appropriate location for the needs of our project. Catering during the stay is provided by the school's central kitchen, which serves three meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner). The canteen respects food bans (intolerance, allergy), special diets (vegetarian, vegan) and religious diets (i.e. Halal).
