Social and emotional well-being are closely linked to the educational outcomes of young people, their social development, their ability to contribute to the country's economy and community development, and also to youth suicide rates. WHO has estimated that depression alone would be one of the biggest health problems in the world by 2020. The increasing rate of suicide among young men is of growing concern. Deep discomfort, mood swings, feelings of hopelessness and suicidal thoughts are common among young people. This pessimistic mood can be a risk factor to take into account with regard to long-term social problems and depression.Transculture-Lydille Lang and all partners wish to take a positive approach to the promotion of emotional health among young people through the implementation of this project and to meet their needs by helping them to understand and develop their skills to strengthen their capacity for resilience, empowerment and positive psychological well-being, both in themselves and amongst the young people with whom they work.
