We have done a small research in participating countries and found out that currently in Europe, young people rarely take an active part in the life of their local communities. Not only it is our opinion, but also statistics confirm our observation. According to the Flash Eurobarometer survey 2014: “European Youth: Participation in Democratic Life,” Among youth people, ages 15 to 30, only 15% are involved in a local organisation aiming to improve local area and only 14% are active in a cultural organisations. These statistics unfortunately show that, fewer & fewer young people are interested in not only their local community life, but also in inter-cultural topic. There is still not enough open spaces for youth initiatives, where youngsters can get together with others from different cultural background can express themselves, create, perform, serve or just hang out & meet. Through these exchanges, stereotypes of “the other” dissolve & form an environment that all people are accepted-refugees, migrants, & those from various backgrounds included. We aim to form inter-cultural open spaces that connect youth from various cultural religious backgrounds with each other to broaden their understanding & gain initiative in joining a cause that can benefit their communities. This open space will breed the spirit of united youth, which is open-minded, positive, creative & willing to take part in active dialogue that combats racism & xenophobia that we too commonly see in this time of globalization & migration. Objectives of first exchange (A1) in Les ULIS (France): - Explore the concept & exchange of experience in volunteering, youth participation & social activism - Analyzing the current involvement of young people in local communities especially youth with distinct cultural backgrounds - Exploring inter-cultural obstacles & barriers to youth social actions & ways to overcome them - Identify innovative tools & best practices & methods which can be transferred to youth local actions - Form teams from participants to make research in their local communities upon their return home, in order to find useful insights & opportunities for social actions Objectives of second exchange (A2) in Helsingborg (Sweden): - Explore, discussing & understanding contemporary refugee related challenges in Europe. - Explore the migration policy of EU & involvement of civic society in the process. - Encourage contribution of youth in integration & social inclusion of migrants & refugees into their communities. - Gather insights, learning, inspirations & experience into project ideas. - Equip participants with knowledge, skills & attitudes to enable them to develop social & inter-cultural youth projects. - Develop ideas & social initiatives & put them into action. - Create community event where everyone is invited to take part & witness multicultural event. In between first & second activity participants will do research & observation in their local communities to find useful insights of social & cultural opportunities. This will help them know where they can best help, & identify their needs of their community. Through project we will help youth to reach their full potential through various workshops, discussions, games & simulations, which provide training & valuable experience to youth & support their future hiring process. Overall the goal of the project is to level out inequality & exclusion. In order to achieve that, we want to show young people the paths to build their own active communities & to equip them with skills & knowledge necessary to take the action. Through the project we will access to Erasmus+ 2019 annual priorities, such as: -raise participants' awareness and understanding of other cultures, offering them the opportunity to build networks of international contacts, to actively participate in society and develop a sense of European citizenship and identity -international cooperation -social dialogue -intercultural dialogue -more active participation in society - better awareness of the European project and the EU values -improved foreign language competences
