Objectives

The youth exchange "Art that Brings Together» was organized by “Together France” and held at Molodechno, Belarus 07/22/19 - 07/31/19. The project united 48 young people from 6 countries: Belarus, Russia, Azerbaijan, Estonia, Romania, and France. The main goal of the project was to increase the cultural level of the participants, to get acquainted with various types of urban art, and the culture of the participating countries. Throughout the project, young people got the opportunity to develop creative skills in the process of creating various works of art in collaboration with professional artists, as well as attract the attention of participants and the local community to the problem of environmental pollution. The project was aimed at introducing young people to various trends in contemporary urban art. Professional artists Danil Taro and Kait Kubar from Estonia, who are actively working in the field of street art, were invited to the project. They shared the secrets of their skills during project’s creative workshops. During the 8-days exchange in Belarus, two trips to Minsk were organized. Participants visited Brasil Street (Oktyabrskaya), had the workshop at OK16 (youth organization), and visited the National History Museum of the Republic of Belarus. The result of the work of young people on the project was several graffiti on a Street-food street in Molodechno, graffiti on the theme of environmental pollution created by participants in the courtyard of the Molodechno Music College. As a gift from the organizers, each of the participants received a T-shirt, as well as the opportunity, creating a stencil - their own image design, apply it using spray cans. At the end of the exchange, each participant received a Youthpass certificate as a part of the European Commission's strategy for promoting recognition of non-formal education. The project developed key competencies of the participants using non-formal education methods, urban and recycled art as a tool. During the exchange, participants were involved in exercises, group work, creative workshops, role-play games, simulations and outdoor activities. These activities provided examples on how urban art can be approached by using the principles of learning by experience and created a learning space for participants to design their own pieces of street, recycled art, etc. The 8-day program of the youth exchange consisted of various practical and active workshops devoted to urban art. Practical creative workshops were complemented by debriefings, discussions and reflective sessions. Participants proposed also their own ideas, energizers, games and workshops. They suggested and realized many creative ideas, example, during painting on the Street-food Street in Molodechno, which made a big resonance in the local press and community.
