The "Animal Farm" was born from the desire to extend the work carried out in 2018 on the reception of refugees and the place of religions in our European (and Turkish) societies. We are moving on to a new stage by exploring the theme of freedom of expression, its applications and practical implications in our democratic societies, some of which are under threat in a Europe with shaken foundations. This observation is based on the opinions of our fellow citizens of all spheres, in tune with the so-called populist manipulations, on the potential contributions that are insufficiently visible or permitted of individuals and social groups that are discriminated against or reduced. It is in this context that we want to come together to point out European examples and experiences where the freedoms and rights of individuals are not respected or are reduced and little taken into account. We also want to experiment together with this right to speak and/or express ourselves for all by forming a very diverse group with participants of profiles and origins representative of our contemporary societies, with young asylum seekers and refugees, young people with disabilities, participants from rural or urban areas from 8 countries of the European Union and Turkey. We will use the experiences and information gathered by everyone, but also Georges Orwell's novel Animal farm, to immerse ourselves in a playful and profound way in both European history and the totalitarianisms of the past that some believe have reappeared today. We will analyse together our contexts and realities to seek ways and solutions to defend and guarantee the participation and consideration of all citizen expressions in our countries and societies with awareness actions that can be transposed within the European Union and Turkey. It is thus a question of providing oneself with space, time, means and resources, methods, scientific monitoring and a sponsorship system, workshops, modes of identification and association with new interlocutors, to analyse the levers and put in place measures to account for the threats facing our democracies if we do not defend freedom and take into account the expression of all through this process of raising awareness and explaining situations, raising awareness and revitalizing our democracies, which must become more representative and participative at all levels of our territories.
