In 2019 we will celebrate Renaissance’s 500th anniversary. La Ligue de l’enseignement Centre – Val de Loire and ARCI Empolese Valdelsa, two associations of popular education, organize a youth exchange, entitled "Tours del Rinascimento ", which takes place in France, more precisely in the Center-Val de Loire region, from 24th to 30th of June, 2019. Today the European identity is strongly threatened by national visions and by a lack of democratization of international mobility projects in favor of a young public, especially outside school. So the project lets 22 young French and Italian meet in the Loire Valley, cradle of the Renaissance in France, and learn from each other on a unifying theme focusing on a shared story (the Renaissance). It promotes the dialogue between the two cultures and emphasizes what binds us and not what differentiates us. The project aims to introduce young people in a fun way to cultural heritage (a heritage both individual and collective), its history but also the history of another culture close, but nevertheless very different. Thus, the intercultural exchange anchors the Renaissance’s anniversary in modern times : sharing its knowledge and skills, combiningunity and diversity, meeting a new culture, discovering the European heritage (because it is the fruit of a shared history) which allows young people to feel European. The arts become vectors of better living together, fraternity, peace and dialogue in a moment of high tension between France and Italy on the political level and which strongly weakens European unity. The project aims : 1) YOUNG PARTICIPANTS : to live an experience of European citizenship, of discovery of the other, of intercultural dialogue and of solidarity. This let young people to facea new environment for learning foreign languages and cultural practices as well as community life (group spirit, trust, communication, taking responsibility, initiative) ; 2) YOUTH EXCHANGE : to facilitate the identity appropriation of the Renaissance heritage through the practice of photography ; 3) ORGANISATIONS : to create structuring multi-stakeholder cooperation in the field of youth by developing both local micro-networks and international networks. This is an opportunity for socio-educational actors to share their knowledge, tools and methodologies.
