School staff wanted to participate in job shadowing in Finland and observe the work of their Finnish colleagues, as Finland has had the best results in various kinds of research conducted in the field of education for years (PISA). By observing lessons conducted by Finnish teachers in the areas which needed improvement, the staff of Secondary School of Economics wanted to learn from the best and apply modern teaching methods in their work and teaching process. They gained the necessary knowledge and competencies which they are already implementing in their work in order to help students develop language, transversal and digital skills, and to increase the level of student motivation in order to make them competitive on the labour market and increase their employability prospects in the future. Management and marketing competencies of the school principal were developed as well.
Secondary School of Economics from Slavonski Brod wanted to implement this project in order to add an additional international dimension to the school and to transform it into a modern educational institution which implements the modern teaching process. It also aimed to further develop its managerial and marketing competences, develop personal, professional, digital and foreign language skills of its teaching and non-teaching staff, improve their quality, and to create a platform for modern strategic school documents design. The final goal of all these plans is to raise the interest and motivation of its students for the teaching process, help them acquire the necessary knowledge, skills (including social skills and European citizenship values), competencies and motivation for work, help them achieve better success on national school-leaving exams and increase their employability prospects on the labour market in the future.
