Objectives

The goals of the project are as follows: to empower participants in the use of information and communication technologies, which means the use of web tools and programs, efficient use of equipment such as interactive whiteboards, projectors and tablets that the school received through equipping schools in the experimental education reform program, develop language and maths competencies and apply different methods for student centered classroom. We want teachers to learn how to use new technologies in class, but also to motivate and teach students how to use new technologies, which will motivate them and enable them to actively participate in the teaching process. We achieved more than expected, especially during the pandemic when we switched to distance learning and when the use of digital tools and new technologies was inevitable. We were prepared through dissemination activities, but we also provided support during the distance teaching itself in a special Google classroom where we shared instructions and new knowledge about the use of virtual classrooms.

Background

The school has 63 students and a total of 24 employees. We are divided into a home school and three regional schools. The classes are small, and in the lower grades, that is, up to the fourth grade, we have combined classes. A small number of students and combined departments significantly affect the possibility of creative execution of the teaching process and are a challenge for the teachers who work in them, and they are on a daily basis looking for new ways of approaching teaching in order to in an interesting but also practically efficient way when it comes to combined classes departments, designed the teaching process. All school buildings have WIFI, but due to the lack of funds available to us, teachers often bring their own laptops to school in order to enrich and modernize their work. Since we applied to participate in the School for Life and the school is equipped with new technologies in this project through courses related to the use of new technologies and digital tools, the new equipment will be used purposefully in the teaching process both for presenting teaching content and for teaching students how to use them. Through the courses on new methods, we wanted to emphasize the importance of the classroom atmosphere and access to students with difficulties, of which there is an increasing number in our school.
