In accordance with the needs that were recognised, we identified the following aims: empowering our teachers to create activities and implement different methods of assessment and self-evaluation which would ensure greater student participation in the process of knowledge and skills acquisition. The purpose of this is the students’ self-regulation of the learning process and taking responsibility for their improvement. The support staff developed a stronger system of professional support for the teachers.
If the feedback information of our teachers concerning the implementation of interdisciplinary projects with the emphasis on team teaching, research-based and task-based learning and the need for systematic professional support recognised by the teachers with the purpose of developing and strengthening their competencies as well as the results of students’ evaluation of the assessment of their improvement are taken into consideration, several areas of development were recognised which focus on teaching and assessment methods and they are: 1. strengthening teachers’ competencies in order for them to be able to implement different forms of assessment and self-evaluation methods of students’ work with the emphasis on formative assessment 2. strengthening the principal’s and support staff competencies in order for them to be able to manage change and strengthen the system of professional support given to teachers. This primarily means managing change and teachers’ motivation, mentoring teachers, organising and conducting teacher observation and supervision.
