By implementing the project, we wanted to achieve the goals set in the European Development Plan: 1. Improving students' professional competencies in the field of basal stimulation (BS), strengthening intrapersonal and interpersonal skills, as well as their language competencies with the aim of facilitating the transition to the labor market 2. Promoting techniques and skills of BS and kinesthetics through our education and dissemination with the aim of raising the level of health care quality 3. Improving the teaching process through teacher education on the topic of kinesthetics 4. Development and expansion of the network of international partners 5. Involvement of students and teachers in Erasmus + programs 6. Indicating the importance of lifelong learning and education Through European mobility and cooperation, we wanted to modernize the curriculum and further develop independence, personal responsibility for their own actions and results of health care, as well as develop student responsibility for patient safety, the need for lifelong learning and training and work on yourself. In this way, we wanted to shape students into independent and competent nurses / technicians for the benefit and satisfaction of the whole community.
The applicant, School for Nurses Vrapče, in a consortium together with the School for Nurses Vinogradska from Zagreb and School for Nurses Bjelovar applied for the project primarily with the aim of improving the knowledge and skills of their students on basal stimulation and teachers on kinesthetics. Basal stimulation is a link in communication between the nurses/technicians and patients, and the application of this technique manages to communicate with patients whose power of perception is limited or who need constant stimuli to become aware of their own body and the environment around them. This is a particularly challenging area of a whole range of basal stimulation techniques that our students do not have the opportunity to adopt through formal education in Croatia. Nurses/technicians in patient care, vocational teachers as well as students are exposed to ergonomic risks during clinical exercises, while as many as a third of their back injuries are related to moving and handling patients. Kinesthetics responds to these problems by recognizing the correct way to perform a particular movement with maximum activation of the patient.
