"Getting back to yOur roots" has a lot to do with the risk of social exclusion of youngsters within European population. Almost every fourth person in the EU still experiences poverty or social exclusion. 31.3% of young people aged 18 to 24 and 26.9% of those aged less than 18 were at risk of poverty or social exclusion in 2015. With this project, we aim to reach out to a vulnerable target group, young people in rural and deprived areas, and invest in their skills and capacities. Our overall aim is to introduce young people in risk of social exclusion to community initiatives and activities of youth organizations and NGO's, as well as Erasmus+ programme and opportunities that it provides. This way, we will introduce them to new opportunities which will broaden their horizons and improve the quality of their life and the lives of the people in their communities. Throughout this project, both participants (primary target group) and young people from the local community (secondary target group) will gain knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to be an active citizen and to be encouraged to take action for a change instead of waiting for others to do it. We are also expecting participants to disseminate project results and ideas in their local communities upon their return back home so that project idea "grows roots" in other EU communities as well. Our objectives are: to introduce participants with the term of social exclusion; to present the examples, outcomes and benefits of community initiatives; to introduce participants with benefits of gardening - sustainable agriculture, healthy food and lifestyle; to develop participants competences and skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, sense of initiative, communication, listening, intercultural teamwork, leadership, creativity, presentation etc.; to provide opportunity for participants self-development through intercultural learning experience; to enhance the international dimension of youth activities within two high-schools involved in this project (Ludbreg, Croatia and Krasnystaw, Poland); to initiate at least one community action per partner group in the domicile area of our participants upon their arrival from YE; to promote European values and Erasmus+ programme with all the opportunities that it provides.
