The project "Violence not wanted" is designed as a youth exchange with the aim of senstizing and raising awareness about the issue of violence and non-violent conflict resolution. With this project, we want to introduce young people to the theme violence, in youth relationships, inbetween peers, on the Internet and the dangers that exist. We also want to show the benefits of co-operation with other youth focused organizations, to encourage all participants to further collaborate in order to sensitize and encourage positive changes in society, both locally and regionally. Through ten-day activities, we want to activate young people, encourage them to communicate with each other and participate in all the activities that will be tailored to their age and individual needs. The main goal of the project is to raise awareness of violence and to sensitize young people on violece issues and to to identify violent patterns of behavior, change attitudes of violence and gender stereotypes, help them strengthen self-esteem, confidence and communication skills to resolve conflicts, existing mechanisms and resources for reporting violence and the network of support. With the project "Violence not wanted", we want to foster cooperation and exchange of young people in Europe to enable them to learn about the different cultures, traditions and customs of their peers, and incorporate the idea of tolerance in their lives. In order to do this, the project will involve organizations from three different countries - Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Each of the selected organizations is focused on young people. Each participating country will send 20 young women and men between 14 and 25 years of age, with two leaders who will oversee their groups. Violence victims are often those that are different in some way than others, often children and young people who are already traumatized, low self-esteem, shy, reserved, smart or talented, or children with physical or mental disabilities. That is why young people with fewer opportunities, young people from alternative care, young people with developing disabilities and behavioral disorders are particularly vulnerable to the group to which attention is important. We hope that with this project will make the youth aware that violence is a problem everyone has faced at least once in their lives and that it doesn’t have to become their way of living. Likewise, we want to encourage young people to speak against violence in public and amongst their peers, pass on the knowledge that they gained through the project on to others and serve as an example to nonviolent problem solving and open communication.
