Objectives

Young people are less likely to participate in political processes than other groups, e.g. they are less likely to vote. There are many reasons for this. First, there is a negative bias against participating in the political process - only people who want to improve their career through clientelism and corruption join political parties. This bias is very dangerous because it is a self-fulfilling prophecy. There has always been corruption and nepotism within politics, but because so many young people believe that there is no place for honest people in politics, honest and hardworking young people will avoid politics so dishonest people will dominate the political process. Second, in many countries there is apathy among youth - nothing can be done to change things. This is also very dangerous assumption because without trying to change the system, the system will never change. Third, many young people do not know much about political and economic theory so they cannot get enthusiastic about participating in the political process. The mission of this YE is to get young people more interested in politics and to become more involved in the political processes. Objectives 1. improve the level of key competences and skills of young people to be active citizens 2. enhanced intercultural awareness and better awareness of the European project and the EU values The project will address the following needs - better understanding of EU values and European project among youth - less apathy among youth and more involvement in their local communities - more active participation of young people in political processes - better understanding of differences in political economies of European countries - more and better quality projects on the topic of political participation of youth
