Objectives

Inter-religious dialogue project wants to address the tumultuous times that our society is going through. Hate speech is spreading around Europe and the rest of the world and its target seems to be some section of the society that professes other faiths. The same way round, some sections of the society belonging to some religions feel threatened and scared off people from other faiths due to the lies and misinformation being handed to them. Inter-religious dialogue, is about people of different faiths coming to a mutual understanding and respect that allows them to live and cooperate with each other in spite of their differences. The term refers to cooperative and positive interaction between people of different religious traditions, (i.e. "faiths") at both the individual and institutional level. Each party remains true to their own beliefs while respecting the right of the other to practise their faith freely. Interfaith dialogue is not just words or talk. It includes human interaction and relationships. It can take place between individuals and communities and on many levels. Dialogue therefore, is not just something that takes place on an official or academic level only – it is part of daily life during which different cultural and religious groups interact with each other directly, and where tensions between them are the most tangible. We wish to carry out this project because we believe interfaith dialogue has become essential in order to help more people discover, celebrate and promote the reality of pluralism in our community. It is important that people respect and have appreciation for other’s faith traditions. In this project we hope to build relationships, identify commonly-held beliefs and enhance the participants’ own faith experience. The main aim of the project is to build respect and understanding between young people from different religious faiths and cultural backgrounds, create friendships and eliminate stereotypes, fear and xenophobia. It’s just a small step towards further cooperation and project creation on an inter-cultural basis where young people have many things in common although they have different beliefs and customs. The objectives of this projects are: Increase mutual understanding and good relations. Identify causes of tension in different religions relations. These are often economic, social or political rather than religious. Build understanding and confidence to overcome or prevent tensions. Break down the barriers and stereotypes which lead to distrust, suspicion and bigotry. It is essential that we tackle this ignorance and get to each other, for we share countries, continents, a world and a society as a whole. But most important, we share the same message: tolerance and love in between all humans. A message that is also a core value of the European Union. This project will help young people in developing certain level of mutual dialogue which will also promote their participation in democratic life in Europe and the labour market, active citizenship, intercultural dialogue, social inclusion and solidarity etc. This project is connected to KA1 specifically Youth Exchange since the participants will enhance their greater understanding and responsiveness to social, linguistic and cultural diversity and they will become aware of socially relevant topics/thematic areas; discover new cultures, habits and life-styles, mainly through peer-learning; strengthen values like solidarity, democracy, friendship etc.
