Our project aimed to improve the quality of professional work at the Damjanich János Primary School in Isaszeg. Our double objective: - To strengthen the international dimension of the school, - Our two main objectives were to enhance the school's international dimension and to provide the opportunity to acquire quality knowledge and to improve language skills. In particular: - to develop the foreign language competences of teachers - renewing their methodological repertoire - the study of the planning and organisation of the dual language programme. We expected the professional visit to strengthen the international aspects of the institution, to put our activities in an international context, and to gain knowledge and practical experience in the management of international projects. In addition to the professional knowledge and exchange of experience, we wanted to establish our future partnerships.
In our municipality, language teaching, multilingualism and internationalism are not yet given much emphasis in any of the schools. There is also a demand from parents for their children to attend schools that offer more than the average. The direction of development has been set by the management and staff, in agreement with the maintainer, to strengthen the international dimension of the school. Our overall aim is to enable our pupils to become fully-fledged citizens of our country and of Europe, and to be able to compete in the European labour market. To achieve this, quality learning and the opportunity to acquire the highest possible level of language skills are key. The pillars of our strategy are: - Introducing dual language teaching - Establishing a short and long-term partnership with a school in an EU country: at teacher level, and later at student level - Participation in international projects We have developed a multi-stage plan to achieve our objectives: 1. to develop the language competences of staff 2. improving the professional and methodological skills of staff 3. to introduce bilingual education on an ascending scale 4. partnership building, further mobility (KA2, KA1)
