Our goal was to observe and put into practice different methods of learning rather than traditional ones, paired with greater student activity in a lasting way. We expected an increase in students' motivation to learn, the general awareness of our school and its recognition in the region. We expected that the study of the educational system of the target countries, the observation, collection and sharing of good practices will promote methodological renewal as well as contribute to the implementation of the quality improvement goals of the institution. We planned to strengthen our efforts to internationalize the institution, as the individual goals of teachers were aligned with not only the institutional strategic goals, but also with our Erasmus KA2 projects, which were running at the time, as well as with the topic of our new KA229 project, which was submitted in 2019. We considered it extremely important to expand the intercultural experiences, as well as the expansion of foreign language competences (in the case of the latter it is noteworthy that the mobilities were not carried out exclusively by language teachers), and we also considered the mobilities to be an excellent opportunity to avoid burnout in the teaching career.
One of the key factors contributing to our institution’s successful work has long been the high-quality professional-pedagogical preparedness of our colleagues, which is confirmed by the academic results, further-education indicators of the institution and the continuous development of pedagogical work. Consequently, teachers can transfer new materials more efficiently as well as modernizing their methodological cultures. For this, it is necessary to further broaden their methodological preparedness (applying activity-oriented forms of education) and ICT competences both in the field of teaching foreign languages and in the field of general knowledge subjects. Since our region (South Hungary, Somogy County) is a county waiting to catch up economically, culturally and in terms of the labor market, it is important to support our students sufficiently and prepare them for their further education. Thus, another important element of our application was the implementation of mobilities that develop the education of natural sciences and IT. Our goal was for our fresh pedagogical and methodological toolkit to help the development of our natural science department, (launched 2013) as well as our IT department (announced 2017).
