Objectives

Our short term goal was to enhance our colleagues’ views, knowledge, methodical horizon as well as shaping their views. New methods, knowledge make a more effective, student centred education possible by which we are more successful, and the proportion of underperforming students will decrease. We have already found suitable tools and methods for several problematic students. The empathetic, student-centered attitude will have a positive effect on the students: they will enjoy our school, avoid confrontation and conflicts and our efforts to deal with the upcoming problems will be fruitful. At the same time, as all three colleagues are extremely perseverant and therefore exhausted, we offered an occasion for them to relax with this travel opportunity. Having arrived back, the information and knowledge was shared any by this our whole staff was enriched by the new methods and knowledge. Sharing knowledge through digital and personal presentations will contribute to spreading information in wider circle. An extra effect is that our school image and reputation will be enhanced.

Background

Our school has entered into the Erasmus program because an urgent demand occurred for developing our educational methods. The development of educational content is the task of the municipalities, we teachers do not influence that, but in teaching methods we are able to improve. Our school has quite a few undermotivated students with mediocre abilities, who are even not supported by their families in their education. On the other hand, the successful, satisfactory term is important for everybody; to the student, to the teacher, as well as the judgement and reputation of the school will change in a positive way. Therefore it is crucial for us to find the appropriate methods. We are assisted in this tendency by the ERASMUS program by offering a training for our colleagues in Florence, Italy. Every opportunity must be taken in order to change teachers’ views; and the Erasmus program is one of the best opportunities among those.. Last, but not least our Centre inspires us to participate in programs trainings, because by this our standard of education will enhance. Our colleagues were also motivated by widening their horizon, gaining international experience.
