Among the goals of the project was to establish equal opportunities which was achieved maximally. Our students had the opportunity to get to know the catering- tourism methodology during their four-week professional practice abroad, which sometimes differed greatly from the Hungarian practice. It was also an initiative to get the students to develop a more open, understanding and inclusive attitude towards other cultures. It occurred, for example, that the students had the chance to work together with Portuguese and French Erasmus students at their professional practice locations during the Polish mobility. We also had a student who, after completing his Italian mobility, started to learn Italian earnestly. Our further goals were to foster the students’ professional skills and professional development as well as, to facilitate their future chances in employment and social integration. In our town, and also in the region of Northern Hungary, employers, who are concerned with tourism, pay a close attention to our students, who have participated in professional practice abroad and are able to speak a foreign language on a sufficient level, in order to apply them later on. The region of Mátra and its surroundings is a kind of ‘experience-centre’, a place which is frequently visited by tourists, and a perfect definition for a popular tourist destination.
Our school has been present in the Tempus Public Foundation since 2013 and it is going to be the 20th anniversary to be celebrated next year. Our institute has been having partnership agreement with schools of six countries during these twenty years. All of our partners have a great experience on the field of mobility therefore, not only the knowledge, expertise and competencies gained during the professional practice was the result of the cooperation but during the administrative conduction process we also met several good practices. We aimed to treasure the continuity of the project by applying from time to time. Besides our students, the teachers and trainers, who volunteered to be part of the projects, also benefited greatly from spending the time abroad during international mobility. They apply their experience and new knowledge in their professional curriculum, methodology and work. The topic of the project is ‘Culinary Wondering Around the Food Specialities of Europe’ which is a kind of gastro-tourism in the flavours and tourism of the six partner countries. This is a special segment of leisure activities in several European countries which students and teachers experienced through mobility. Everyone likes to eat, drink and also curious and susceptible for new dishes.
