Objectives

From the point of view of the catering trade we expected that the use of the latest technology, technical devices and the learning of modern professional knowledge iould have a positive effect on our students' general knowledge and their level of preparation, furthermore it would help them to get an advantageous position at the labour market and it would raise the educational level of our school, too. Watching the work of our trainees at the work-places, considering the equipment of the tarining-places and the experience of their staff, we assume that they had collected many useful parts of knowledge that they can use in their future career. The mobilities were carried out according to our plans, they contributed to the development of our trainees. We were happy to see, that our trainees established several personal contacts, too and they integrated into the foreign place without problems. From the point of view of our school we hoped for the widening of the our international relations but at leat we used it to confirm our contact to the host oragnisation and ti establish better contacts to the business sector, that means to the companies which hosted the practice of our trainees.

Background

The aim of the project was the foreign apprentice training of the future cooks and catering organizers from the vocational school with special stress on deepening the special language knowledge, getting acquainted with a foreign culture, learning new social competencies, deepening of the international relations and to get familiar with the forms of intercultural and lifelong learning. During the past 12 years we have seen that foreign practice can bring better chances on the job market. The foreign experience completes the trainig of our students with such new knowledge and skills which can not be obtained in Hungary. In addition to that their language skills improved a lot, too. We subordinated our project to these aims. The project contained three stays in Germany. These periods were always 4 weeks long. The number of participants was in each turn: 10 apprentices and one person accompanying - exactly as we planned. Due to our experience 4 weeks were long enough for our trainees to have a closer look at the world of the German gastronomy and the morals of work. It contributeed significantly to the destruction of language barriers and to their future decisions about collecting experience abroad.
