Objectives

With the project, our main goal was to help the mobility of our students taking part in vocational training; to broaden the possibilities of their professional practice, to develop the language, professional and communication skills of the participants in a multicultural environment; getting them to know good international practices; become familiar with the education system and methods of another country, as well improve the employee skills of the beneficiaries. Our long-term goal was to make it possible for our students to acquire skills, and competencies which facilitate finding a job. We considered the cognition of innovative activities, gathering international experience and their implementation in our education important. The most important thing is to provide the best training for our students in accordance with our possibilities and abilities to reduce the difficulties of starting their careers. It was our goal to help our students in acquiring the attitude of life-long learning, as well as improve the reputation of our school by offering our students the access to as many such and similar projects as possible, respectively attract the attention of parents and partner institutions supporting our school to this.

Background

VIK Vocational Institute and Secondary Grammar School was founded in 1996, its maintainer is the Hungarian Baptist Aid. VIK Vocational Institute and Secondary Grammar took part in Leonardo da Vinci mobility applications of Tempus Public Foundation since 1999. This was the first time when we handed in an application. In the first two years we took part in the programme as a school sending students abroad, then since 2001 we also receive them. The programme provides tremendous chances for our students to improve both their professional and language skills, but staying abroad for almost half a year has several other positive increments. We thought that similarly to our numerous, successfully accomplished programmes, the project will provide very useful professional experience and practice in international environment for our cook, waiter and pastry cook students taking part in three-year school training, as well as students learning to become waiters or cooks within a five-year training, respectively technicians in the field of tourism. As most of our partners can receive students in the field of catering, all our students could start their five-month professional practice abroad working as pastry cooks, cooks or waiters.
