Objectives

We wanted to achieve that our students and accompanying teachers can assess in practice how relevant what they learned at school is in the real professional environment, how usable and how durable it is. In addition to being able to update and adapt the curriculum to European practice based on these experiences, the foreign professional internships contribute to the fulfilment of the relevant learning outcomes of our local professional training program that fits the vocational education 4.0 strategy. Furthermore, we wanted to ensure that the well-trained colleagues are able to get involved in more and more international projects with more and more students, as this enables the broadening of the students' horizons, experiences, motivation, and raising the standard of education. The consequence of this is that the institution will not have enrolment problems, because parents are happy to bring students here. The participation of our instructors as accompanying teachers in student mobility will contribute to the development of their organizational and intercultural competences, a result that will also increase the prestige of our school. In addition to the specific learning results we wanted to achieve, we wanted to achieve results in the intercultural and social development of the participants.

Background

We applied for this project with the aim to help our students become European citizens, to support them in being open to professional innovations and in the direction of developing their international relations. Our scholl considers it important that our students are able to think in terms of perspectives, to be able to accept and learn about other cultures, and to communicate in a foreign language. In our school, we regard short-term student mobility as an excellent means of achieving the above goals. During the implementation of the project, the internship abroad is an excellent opportunity to fulfil the following learning outcomes included in our local professional program: professional communication in a foreign language, handling and solving professional problems, openness to learning about new methods and technologies, developing cooperation and empathy.
