The project in longer term aimed to improve the quality of training programmes in the fields of Art courses by carrying out job-shadowing activities in our partner organization. In short term, the project aimed to: 1) Exchanging best practices in order to provide up-to-date learning contents, 2) Carrying out class observation activities in Art classes to identify the best teaching approaches and techniques, 3) Conducting discussions about how the Salesian Preventive System is applied in the respective organisations. Improving the quality of VET programmes: In order to provide a high quality education standard, it was necessary to keep close partnership with VET school that offer the same training programmes in order to exchange best practices in terms of learning content and pedagogical methodology. Finding out the best creative ways of engaging students: By carrying out job-shadowing activities of art teachers, the project aimed to strengthen their competences in the fields of professional expertise, problem-solving ability, sense of pedagogy, commitment and value-driven approach.
At the time of project preparation phase SZÁMALK-Salesian Post-Secondary Vocational School had already been administered by the Hungarian Salesian Body for Education (since 2013), which means that from that time onwards we followed the footsteps of Salesian Don Bosco. Besides being a Salesian school, our French counterpart also had had the same training profile. Moreover, we had never had a French partner, so based on these factors mentioned above we happily accepted their proposal for partnership and cooperation. The need to create an innovative and practice-oriented training environment requires not only to extend our training infrastructure and dual placements, but it is also necessary to establish international partnership and to implement meaningful projects. Besides that, our school community has always been open to all improvements of education that support flexible learning opportunities and module based learning approaches, and also provide tailored services for any disadvantaged learners. To achieve these goals, the project team were motivated and pursued the value-driven attitude throughout the project preparation work.
