[Motivation] The Difference Between (TDB) aims to improve the quality of international youth exchanges and TCs, by focusing on the on the capacity of youth workers for leading and facilitating groups. TDB comes as a follow-up project that the experts of Egyesek implemented in the Netherlands through a local organization (project number 2016-1-NL02-KA105-001250) where Egyesek was a partner and the main methodology now used in this project was first piloted. In preparatory meeting with the partners about needs, the most stated one relates to improving the capacity on their staff to how they lead groups and facilitate activities. Despite their training, they tend to lead activities according to the established protocol or instructions, rather than adapting the reality of the group. This means, that they focus more on the content of their activities than the context of where they will lead them. The biggest negative consequence is that youth activities stop being fitting to the target groups they work with and lead to less participation and less motivation from the young people side. To deal with the scenario mentioned above we propose bringing forward a multidisciplinary methodology: coaching, self-reflection, communication, leadership, and training of educators. The methodology is based upon 4 main elements: • Craftsmanship – the capacity to design programs according to group needs and stage of development • Connection – empathetic behaviour towards acknowledging group dynamics & needs • Communication – the holistic usage of body, voice and words to achieve desired impact • Co-leadership – shared decision making through consensus Through the implementation of a Training Course (the main activity) we expect to enable the participating 16 youth workers to use this approach. To support and spread the learning we also create a Facilitation Toolkit, in cooperation with the partners and participants of the main activity, which will be disseminated in our networks. [Objectives] These are the main general objectives of the project: 1. To reflect on the importance of context in youth work and to build interventions matching to it 2. To improve and boost the practical skills of the participants for working with groups 3. To promote and multiply the exchange of best practices in youth work.
