After the great success of Changemaker projects (Changemaker 1-2, Agents of Change) that had been carried out since 2016 by Egyesek in different cooperation, we reached out by more organizations in our wider network. They had expressed the need for a learning project that would support their staff and volunteers to develop attitudes, skills, and competencies through self-reflective methodologies. There was (and still is) a clear need for learning the method to be used in order to improve their work in the field of youth work. Partners that joined this project could be divided into two groups: NGOs working with workcamps and volunteer management with also having previous experience in the Changemaker project, and organizations that know Egyesek and the methodology from before and work with volunteers and workcamps. The common point of the partners is that they all expressed their need for a project like Changemaker 3.0. There are a lot of training courses available for youth workers, coordinators, NGO staff mainly focusing on one particular method that train the professionals to have practical tools to work with. However, there is not such a complex program available that combines different toolsets and integrate into one particular method that can be used not only for practical knowledge (it is also included) but self-reflection and self-development as well; in a way that the gained knowledge can be built in their every-day work. The answer for the need for this combination is the methodology and the outcomes of the Changemaker 3.0 project. The basis on how leaders of volunteers will use the practical skills and knowledge always is in the person's attitude. Therefore, if we don’t work with the attitudes first, the practical knowledge and skills may be used in various ways less effectively. As we acknowledge the sensitization of the attitudes as an essential base for learning and using the practical skills and becoming a good volunteer coordinator or camp leader, by this project, we wanted to focus on the attitudes first to deepen the learning of the practical skills. According to our experience, the impact and quality of the learning outcomes and how the participants are going to use it in practice will be way higher in this way. Having properly trained camp leaders and volunteer coordinators is what allows the voluntary projects to have an even bigger impact on the volunteers and the local communities because the camp leaders become much more self-confident in their position and much better prepared for their tasks. As a result of this project, these two modules have been described in a methodical toolkit, which is useful for any organization organizing training for volunteer coordinators or camp leaders. Objectives of the project were: - To provide tools for developing the quality of youth work and leading volunteers in workcamps and voluntary projects - To reflect the role of leadership and explore participants’ own attitudes, approach and inner motivation of their work with volunteering - To improve and boost the practical skills of the participants for working with groups and projects in volunteering - To put participants’ experience into practice and multiply among their colleagues and target groups These objectives are linked with the aims of Erasmus+ mobility projects since Changemaker aims to support learners in the acquisition of learning outcomes (knowledge, skills, and competences) with a view to improving their personal development as well as support the professional development of those who work in education, training and youth. The project included 2 training courses: Participants of the first activity developed mainly their leadership skills, practice methods for working with and supporting youth groups (coaching and mentoring). Participants of the second activity were trained in practicing methods of team and task management, be able to structure a project idea, and prepare a basic communication strategy to disseminate results of their project, besides leadership skills as an overall improvement on both activity. The major cooperation between Egyesek and INEX was based on 3 similar projects carried out together in the last 3 years. The venues and the setup of project coordination of both organizations are well-known by all the partners involved in Changemaker 3.0. By now this cooperation and methodology is the guarantee for high-quality youth projects and transfer of good practice in volunteer management and guiding young people as well as training courses. The first Changemaker project was acknowledged with Excellence Prize by the Hungarian National Agency, while Changemaker 2.0 was also a great success, and we also partnered up with INEX for two of their own projects, Agents of Change and Leaders of Change, aimed at the development of youth workers with the same methodology. We wanted to continue developing this project, as well as keeping the legacy of a unique methodology.
